Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

Black screen sansa sandisk

Hi, when I plug my sansa the wheel turns on, but thats all!, it remains like that, What can i do? hhhheellllllppp.

my m240 turns on but none of the functions music plays. Worked fine for months.

Have you tried connecting it to the USB port on your computer without the battery in? If not, remove the battery and try that. Hopefully this will make it display USB Connected. Let me know if it doesn't (as the rest of this advice won't work if it doesn't, and we'll have to try something else).

If it does, disconnect it and hold the "Menu Button" (aka Power Button) for 45 seconds, then reconnect it to USB.

After that it should say USB Connected again. At this point, put the battery back in and see if it works.

If it does display USB Connected as I suggested above, but doesn't work with the battery in, you'll have to get a new battery and repeat the steps above before installing it - your battery is bad.

If it does work after this - great.

If you can't get it to display USB Connected, then the battery is not the problem - let me know and I'll see what else I can come up with to try.

Perform recovery mode on the player and create a file named sansa.fmt and put that file in the 16 MB format that should reformat the whole player after you have put that file in the drive and unplugged the player from the computer. After that has been done try to update the firmware of the player.

Everytime i turn it on it shows the sandisk startup and company and it does that over and over again when i plug it into the USB it doesnt even turn on

when i switch it on .sandisk initialising.showing sansa details after that it remains on .no other functions working

Sansa e260 only wheel light will turn on, screen remains black

Blank screen

Typically this is an indication that your battery is dead. If the music is still playing but the screen is blank I would say a hardware failure and replacement would be the best option.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out:
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Stuck in "sandisk initializing screen"

To those that are having problems with the MP3 player not being recognized. With Windows XP there is a little Icon on your Systems Tray that is called the "Safely Remove Harware Icon". Not using this Icon when unpluging MP3''s or zip drives can cause your PC to no longer recognize it. Toshiba Satellite laptops are known for this, others probably have the same problem. The solution here is to install the latest update of the ACPI Flash Bios for the Toshiba Satellite computer. Maybe this is also the problem with other PCs. To prevent these problems allways click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon before removing the MP3 player or any USB flash drive
1 With your m240 set to MSC and connected, go to "My Computer" and "right click" on the "Sansa m240" icon and select "Properties"
2 In that window, select the "Hardware" tab
4. In that "All Disk Drives" window, highlight the "Sansa m240" drive and select "Properties" (at the bottom)
5. In that window, select "Policies"
6. And there, set it to " Optimize for Quick Removal" and click OK and OK again

Jan 21, 07 I called and spoke with a Sandisk rep on Jan 16 about the "Sansa m240 startup screen" freeze-up problem that so many are experiencing. He said a bad batch was sent out in early December and on those m240''s there is "NO POSSIBLE FIX" for that problem, but no plans for a recall. He said he could not discuss what the problem was, but I guess it would be a hardware issue, since a firmware issue could easily be resolved. He said anyone with this problem is requested to call Sandisk and get a MRA number, then return the m240 to Sandisk for a replacement. If you have one that''s frozen on the Sansa m240 startup screen (all other freeze-ups can probably be corrected) take it back to your place of purchase or call Sandisk immediately. <>

Your M240 may have encountered a corruption in its Music Database, and may be corrected by formatting and updating the firmware. Try this: Manually switch the player to MSC mode and format through "Disk Management". Here are the steps: Step 1: Locate the "Hold" switch on the side of the M240 and enable it (you should see an "orange-colored" surface when it's enabled) Step 2: Plug the M240 to your computer (recommended Operating System is Windows XP and above) and check Windows Explorer if the player is detected as a "Removable Drive" Step 3: Open "Disk Management" by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon, then selecting "Manage" Step 4: Your "Disk Management" window should be divided into 2 panes. On the left pane, click on "Disk Management" Step 5: On the upper right pane of "Disk Management", you should find the drive letter corresponding to your Sansa M240. The lower section also contains the drive # pertaining to your M240. Right-click on either drive letters pertaining to the M240 and select "Format". Follow the on-screen prompts. Make sure that the "Quick Format" checkbox remains un-checked. Step 6: In general, Disk Management is more the effective tool for formatting your M240 and assuming the format processing completed without any errors, proceed to updating the firmware of your player. Step 7: Use this link to download the Sansa Firmware updater: Save this file to your Desktop and run it while your M240 is still plugged in to your PC. Follow the on-screen prompts. Step 8: "Safely remove" your M240 from your PC and -- with a fresh battery -- power on your player. It should boot up normally. I hope this works. The M240 is a great player

there are 2 usb choices on the sansa m240 one is msc the other is auto detect. msc is for downloading new upgrade software i beleive , because thats the setting sndisk has you set it on to download new upgrade software .it stands for mass storage class .it may need to be on auto detect .
