Question about Panasonic PT-40LC12 40" Rear Projection HDTV

Green Light blinks no picture

How do I know that the bulb is bad by looking at it. Last time it blew
it actually made a loud popping sound and it was under warranty and
by replacing the bulb fixed the issue.
No popping sound this time and the wire on the bulb looks unbroken.
Is that all I look for in the bulb?

Check that the thermistor/temp measuring device is suspect, no resistance across legs. There is a label there that says F701 see service manual
http://www.goodmans.net/get_item_th-tf117c_thermal-fuse-117-degrees-celsius.htm
I went here for a tech manual for the Panasonic
tv.
http://www.ManualsParadise.com
then ordered
Manufacturer: Panasonic
Part Description: FUSE
Part Number: LSJA0411-1
from
PartStore.com
it was mounted to the case that holds the lamp. had to remove the back panel, etc. Also think I had to splice in the fuse or something. was a while ago.

i purchased a NTE8115 from my electronics supplier, closest I could find.
Radio shack also has them.

remove the back cover and measure for continuity across the thermal fuse
above the lamp housing.
if open jump it wth a 5 amp fuse, be sure to close the safety switch with
the small blue lever then try to power on.
If comes on ok you will need to replace the entire ballast assembly to get
that fuse.
Panasonic does not have a part number for just the fuse on the PT40LC
series.
It is possible to cut off the fuse and replace with another but dont solder

Sounds like you lamp ballast has gone bad. I good way to verify this is, when you press power on the projector look inside the lens. If you see a small amount of light, then the ballast is good, and the lamp is bad. If there is no light then chances are the ballast is bad.

Tv turns on w/pic then pic dissapears light blinks 4 times

I have the same issue, we've had to change our bulb three times in less than two years. now we have 61" expensive paper weight. Our current bulb is less than 6 months old. The TV is only 2 years old and like i said this is our third bulb.

the blue light blinks 4 times. you get sound. then a few minutes the the picture returns... then it goes out, and the cycle goes on.

A solution to this would be greatly appreciated.

Loud pop

Check the lamp.
Pull it out and look at it.
More than likely the lamp has shattered inside the set and needs replaced.
Bulb replacement is made for consumers and can easily be replaced.
Need any more information, respond to this post and I will reply.
