Re: PC damaged by water spill

Presuming that the water spilled on the actual pc, and it is no longer functioning whatsoever, you should contact the manufacturer (dell in your case) if you still have a warranty on it.

Water got in pc

Unblug it from the wall immediately and let it sit with the cover open for at least two or three days before you try again. If you get nothing after that...well...

Dry out a hard drive

If you open it up, you'll probably get dust in it, even microscopic dust in the wrong place will mess it up. But you'll have to open it up to get the water out. I suggest that you bake it in an oven at 150F for an hour or two.
If the liquid was something other than water, you're probably sunk to begin with. try soaking it in rubbing alcohol to clean out whatever was spilled. (the alcohol being thinner than water will get into places that water can't)

Beer spill on wireless keyboard

Usually if you try you can recover it ..but it may have permanent damages and some of the keys not work proper..You need to open it up ..and clean the plastic sheets inside ..with water ..and after that to dry them well with cold air ..The issue is that the beer is sticky when dries out and keep those plastic sheets either in permanent contact or not at all ..but the keyboard may be still functional ..
I had recovered keyboards from this kinda faults before attention on the electric part not to damage it ..and be patient as in brain surgery ..

I have a dell dimesion 3000 with a moniter that came with it from dell. a little while ago my nephew was messing with the moniter and made it really blurry. is there any way i can fix this?

There should be a menu button, and once in the menu, I believe there should be a Factory Reset Setting that you can choose and it should clear it up. If that does not work, the monitor could possibly be damaged and the blurry screen is the result. Good luck. Thanks. -Sa_Les_Ski

I have Dell destop model XPS-420 my computer is not getting on NO FAN and no noise please advise me what should I have to do

are you saying the fan is not working ? if that's the case, you need to replace the fan.
get the service tag # located on back of your desktop PC, go to this link below, place service tag in appropriate box . it will give you part numbers for the peripherals of this computer. locate the fan and purchase replacement.this is all you have to do. DO NOT TURN ON THE COMPUTER UNTIL THIS FAN IS REPLACED, or you will damage the mainboard and/or CPU.

Spilled water on modem now an amber light appears but fan inside not running so computer wont turn on? Can i get it fixed?

More than likely when you spilled the water on the modem (external I'm guessing) it caused a short and fried your motherboard. Any type of short can fry anything connected to it...even if the device doesn't have power. Since the ethernet cable can carry voltage it can happen that way too.
