TV works fine - remote does not - therefore unable to use any DVD or VCR player etc.(need the input or game function on the remote )- I purchased a Phillips "big button" universal remote control from Walmart. I have put in every code they suggested and when this did not work - I surfed the web for additional codes eg. Funai

I was able to get the Sylvania TV to accept a different input (the remote was lost) by connecting the DVD to a Sony VCR using composite RCA jacks then connecting that to the TV.
You'll need two 3-jack (yellow, white, red composite) cables - cheap at any store. Here;s how: 1. Connect RCA output jacks from the DVD to the input female receptacles of the VCR (first cable).2. Connect output jacks from VCR to the female input jacks on TV (second cable). 3. Turn on all equipment (VCR, DVD, TV)4. Switch the VCR to "Line 1" (for my Sony VCR, this shows up as "L1") by pressing the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote (which I did have). Your system should now work. The principle is to "fool" the TV into thinking that it's primary input is through the RCA composite A/V jacks rather than the cable connection. No need to disconnect the cable at any time. Any functioning VCR should work well as long as you have the remote for that device. Remember, connect output on the DVD to the input on the VCR, then the output on the VCR to the input jacks on the back of the TV. If you have the connectors on the TV, VCR, and DVD, component cables should work as easily. Remember, output from the DVD goes to the input of the VCR. Theoutput from the VCR (for which you DO have the remote) goes to the input side of the TV. Good luck!
I also can't find the remote for my Sylvania
TV/VCR/DVD combo... Model number 6719DF. I don't normally use this tv
(it's an extra spare that I plug into our generator when
the power goes out... since our regular family TV is
quite big and set into the wall making it difficult to
track cords around, I drag this crappy Sylvania down
from our dining room to our family room) I did
happen to find an old Zenith universal remote that
does work with it in some ways (See directions
below). I can turn the TV on and off, set the channels,
language, clock.. etc through the Input select button
on the universal remote but can't set to "Game Mode"
after using connections with video/audio input cords
plugged into the front panel of the TV. So
Playstations, extra dvd players or vcr's, etc won't
Switching from the VCR to DVD and vice versa does
require manually setting the tv itself (remote doesn't
work with that) but at least I can set sub titles, fast
forward through chapters on Dvd's and control the
volume, etc without having to constantly walk over to
Programming the remote: I've noticed a lot of people
have tried using codes supplied by different universal
remote providers and couldn't find a code that
worked using their lists with this particular model...
there is a way that it can be done but it's a bit more
Many types of "universal" remotes give the option of
"scanning" the electronic device for a code if one is
not available or the one provided with lists does not
work... Every universal remote though needs certain
buttons pushed during the "scan" and they are all
different! Ha! So if you lost or misplaced the MANUAL
as well (like me!) you might need to do a search on a
manual for your particular universal remote, but I can
at least give you directions on programming a
"Zenith" Universal remote to "scan" for a Sylvania
TV/DVD/VCR combo model 6719DF:
Using the Zenith Universal Remote or any Universal Remote using it's "scan" method:
1: Shut off the TV
2. Press and hold "Code Search" on the remote until
the red LED light lights up and stays lit.
3. Press the device button for the device (In my case,
for my crappy Sylvania combo, I pressed "TV".)
The LED light will blink once.
4. Scanning: Slowly press and release the "Power"
button on the remote, waiting a few seconds between
while watching the TV to turn on. It's very important
that you pause in between because if you do it too fast
and the TV turns on before you press the power
button again... you'll have to start all over. I've
learned that lesson. It took 160 presses each time on that button to get the
correct code scanned! I had to do it over 3 times
before I stopped myself beforehand because I was
pressing it too quickly..
5. Right after the TV power turns on, press the "Mute"
button on the remote to set the code. It should work with few limitations (no "game" mode)
This isn't a solution but I am unable to acccess the input either. My tv is hooked to a dvd,vcr and direct tv satellite with a dvr. I watched a movie on the dvd and the tv won;t allow me to switch the input back to satellite tv.
Aux is used for a buncha reasons, video, dvd, etc.... How is your video connected to your TV? Many TVs have a remote control button to change input, or TV/VCR button, try tapping that if you've got it. need the model of the TV if not applicable
You can always push "03" on a universal remote programmed to work your TV. A better solution is to connect the devices properly. You shouldn't use the tuner inputs for a VCR/DVD player, or you will get a poorer picture and no stereo sound. See the instruction manual for your player and TV. Use a stereo audio/video cable to connect them and select the proper input. The instructions will hopefully clarify this.
You have to choose the right INPUT on your TV where your DVD player was connected. If your using the Yellow/Red/White cable from your DVD player you need to choose on your TV the input Example Video1 Video2, etc... If your using the COAX,(like cable wire) Put your TV on Channel 3 or 4. Hope this may help you.
Please post the outcome, if you need further help.
Is this TV is a COMBO?
when you say nothing do you mean the tv wont come on? If the tv is on can you see the words (input, volume bar, menus, etc.) do you hear audio? does the player work on another tv, since you have a sylvania tv, are you using the game button on the top of the remote to switch to the jacks on the front? Good luck :0)
