My diswasher displays error message E4 -the drain pump has automatically cut in. The manual says to call an engineer, but as this was a result of a blocked filter rather than leak or repeating overflow, is there any way odf resetting the diswasher - the manual solutions for resetting with other problems don't work.

Sometimes during trasport it is possible that styrofoam float mechanicaly activated overflow microswitch. So, you should check complitely overflow system.
At any time, if overflow micro-switch act and keep for longer than 2 seconds, the E4 would occur. When E4 occurs, the drain pump will run until flowmeter keep motionless for 2 minutes (if the model with the pressure switch (83/63),drain pump would run till the pressure switch reset and continue draining for 60 seconds.) and all the other components will be stopped immediately. At the same time, the buzzer will alarm for 30 seconds and error 4 will be shown. Note: Priority level of E4 is the highest. E4 operation is valid after other error operations have done. When E4 operation has done, all the others are invalid.
the unit is not draining properly. unplug it from the current outlet, check behind there should be two places to drain the machine. unplug the two drain plugs in the back and let the water empty out. the e4 error message comes up when the unit is filling up with water.
There is a tank with an overflow sensor on the right side of the dishwasher. The tank needs to be drained of water to reset the sensor. If necessary remove the insulation on the lower front corner of the machine and drain into a cup or container by removing the black rubber plug at the bottom of the plastic tank. Consult the manual for detailed procedure. The error can occur from excessive foaming.
had same problem. Tilt dishwasher to the left and drain all the water (it will come out on the side). That's E4 solved. Now turn it on, E4 should not light up. If it does, turn it on and as soon as u do this, close the door. This won't activate the Trip Switch but will automatically turn the pump on. Good luck!
The instruction manual defines E4 as "overfilled", a possible reason being too much inlet water. What helped with our machine - removed all dishes inside, then let the machine's pump run briefly to make sure as much water was drained from the system as possible. I then unplugged the device, placed a large towel on the floor around its base, and tilted the machine front-ward, until all water had run out. Lifted the machine back upright, plugged it in, switched on - and voilà! it's working as I speak.
