Sansa e260 connected player to computer , have disk in drive , installed software off disk ( coverter ) but comuter does not accept player. it finds new hardware starts to wizards it . starts searching then stops saying error in installation invalid data. i've change usb settings on player no change i've downloaded new firmware no good player screen says connected but computer says not.

After installation connect your sansa...... Also make sure you are connected to a 2.0 usb the back of the computer is best (the motherboard)....

enter scroll to settings press enter scroll to usb mode press enter
scroll to msc press enter press menu.....Connect should auto start sansa

Not Recognized: Try connecting it to the back of your computer or another computer the back straight
to the motherboard this should be USB 2.0 and see if it will recognize
it as sansa or Drive/removable drive. if it does then download the sansa
update software
and install it. Make sure you disconnect the sansa and connect it when

download to a flash drive much easier. Make sure USB mode is MSC Recovery Mode may also allow your computer to recognize the sansa lock
your sansa hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the
menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to
the computer Start the update software when finished disconnect.... Sync to upload songs to the sansa......Hope this works

Open my computer click on folder what ever folder has your music in it and drag to media folder and drop (click on the (+)where it say's sansa ) easier not to sync

It is because the e260 is not in MSC mode (where it looks to the computer like a hard disk).
Try this, this will temporarily set your e260 into MSC mode. Then download and install the firmware as per instructions (or use the Sansa Updater software also available on the Sansa site). This will then let you see a menu item to switch to MSC mode.
MSC mode instructions:
Turn on the e200 v2
Put the device in Hold (move Hold button until orange is showing)
Press and hold the Left Button
Plug the 30 pin connector into the device (be sure the USB is plugged into the computer)
Wait for the e200 drive(s) to show up
Follow instructions below and drag files to the e200 drive
