When plugged in-the B/D leaf hog won't work. It has a good electrical connection,but just won't turn on.It has worked normally in the past.Thanks-JIm Blankenship

The plug then the cord. There is allot of stress where the cord enters the unit. if it looks worn you can rewire a new cord on it.

open the covers while unplugged and see if a wire came unplugged

Same thing here after i did my neigbours yard!!!! i found out it was the switch the latch that moves it wont I am trying to work a away round it hope this helps

Try Platt Electrical supply - 800-257-5288 (Platt.com) BLACK & DECKER #89754-01 REPLACEMENT BRUSH. It seems the entire motor head was manufactured by DeWalt and is now obsolete. I don't know if these brushes will fit, but someone there may help.

I have this unit. Mine stopped working today after being warm on the handle the last few uses. I opened the unit up (torx 15) and smelled, then found that a fused wire coming off the motor had burned/melted/separated at a plastic plug right inside the handle. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with it, but in this same compartment of the handle there was an anti-theft strip floating around. sometimes dirt and debree can get stuck in there, try saturating it with a strong penetrating oil like PB Blaster, available at your local auto parts store, and let it soak in for about an hour and use a pair of pliers to get a good grip.

Check an see if a branch or something got caught in the blower an won't let it turn, if it hums that could be the problem

Black and Decker has issued a recall notice for Type 1 BV4000 because "a loose connection between the unit and an extension cord can create heat, posing a possible fire hazard" Says to STOP USING and call 1-866-853-2138 to arrange for free repair.
