Hi,
I have a microstar md2852 laptop which gets fiery hot very quickly. It has an upgraded 160gb harddrive + a new 1 gig memory card equalling 1.25gb total memory. I am not sure what the video memory is. My biggest problem is that within about 10 minutes tops it just freezes up. It did the same thing before the upgrade but took longer to freeze. If you could let me know what the possible causes could be I would be very grateful.
Thank you

- It was opened up about 2 weeks ago to install the new components & was cleaned then. I will download speedfan 2night & check the temps. Thanks 4 the help.

- Already had the memory tested and its fine. The problem started before the upgrades anyway. I found out the cpu used in this machine is a pc cpu not a laptop cpu & it loads up with virtually no use at all. I used a cpu meter Vista gadget & just staring at the screen it jumps up to 100% usage without even touching a key. It usually sits around 34% though.
Have you tried blowing into the exhaust vents to clear any dust out? What kind of temps is the cpu reaching? Use speedfan to find out (free progy)

- Try downloading memtest and burn it as an image and boot from it to test the new ram as it may be faulty. Did the problems start after the recent upgrades?

I cannot get past the Logon screen. It asks for a password and I cannot remember it. I also have no CD-rom drive so how do I re-install Windows without a External CD rom drive or password?
