This means that you have a fault code present in the Transmission control module (TCM), you need to have that module tested, the P1529 is just the engine computer telling you this code is present. here is the book difinition

What is meaning p1529 on my elantra

P1529 means the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp. All I can tell you based on this information is that the TCM has seen something abnormal. To find out what abnormal condition the TCM saw, you'd need to retrieve the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) from the TCM. The most frequent culprit is either the input or output speed sensor, but there's no way to know whether they may be the issue without the TCM DTCs

P1529 what i need to change

P1529 indicates that the TCM [Transmission Control Module ] has requested the engine control module (ECM) to turn on the check engine lamp. P1529 is related to your vehicle speed sensor problem.

Code 1529

Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. P1529 is a TCM MIL request to the
ECM.
TCM = Transmission Control Module. The sluggishness is really what is known as 'fail safe' mode (3rd gear). You should have had other codes besides P1529 to identify which system in the transmission caused the problem.

I have a 2001 hyundai elantra.my check engine light is on for the codes p1529,p500, p501. i got the speed sensor fix and the light came back on for the some codes. what is wrong

Satlaan: You need an odb2 scanner to extract the trouble codes. If you don't have one you can buy one for around $30 from most auto part stores. Alternatively, some auto part stores (Auto Zone for example) will read your trouble codes for you, for free. The trouble codes could be anything from a loose gas cap to a misfire, without the scanner there is no way to know.

Rashidas: How did you fix the speed sensor? This is not the speedometer cable that bolts to the transmission, but a separate sensor inside the right side front wheel behind the brakes.

This AllExperts.com post explains it pretty well.

Don't just assume it is the sensor though,, that wiring gets beat up by all the **** you drive over, so look at the wiring carfully.

Hope that helps,
Ellie
