Cursor problem

Disabling the touchpad on a Dell Inspiron can be useful when typing for long periods of time, or using an external mouse. Bumping or tapping the touchpad while typing can cause cursor jumping and unwanted results. Use the touchpad software to enable or disable touchpad controls. Download the driver for your touchpad at the Dell Support website.

Click on the "Touchpad" icon in the task bar. If the icon doesn't appear, you can download and install the driver for the touchpad from the Dell website, or choose "Start" and "Control Panel." Choose "Device Select" on the touchpad menu, or choose "Mouse" in the "Control Panel" menu and "Device Select." Click "Disable" under "Touchpad" to turn off the touchpad, or click "Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick When a USB Mouse is Connected."

How to disable touchpad sony va10 computer

If you have VAIO Central installed, try this link.

Otherwise try:
1. Click Start, and select Control panel.
2. Click Mouse under the classic view.
3. Click the Device Settings tab.
4. Select the touchpad device.
5. Click Disable.
Note: Make sure you remember to turn it back on before you disconnect the external mouse.
If the above steps do not help, do the following:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Sony\Setting Utility Series and run VCCPointingDevice.exe
2. Uncheck the "Enable" checkbox.
This should disable the touchpad device.
Note: Make sure you remember to turn it back on before you disconnect the external mouse.
If the above steps do not help, I'd suggest you to contact Sony support:

Or try looking at F1 to F12 keys, maybe one has a symbol of a touchpad, if it does, hold down Fn key while pressing it.

How do I disbale the Lenova G550 touchpad Thank ou

Hi there,

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can go to the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

a) Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Alternatively, you can permanently disable the touchpad of your laptop by clicking the "Disable Device" in the Touch Pad setting

Since you have a Dell laptop, you'll have a special tab called 'Dell touchpad' in the window that pops up. Click on the touchpad picture in the window.

Click on the 'Disable' radio button to disable the touchpad completely. If you want to disable the touchpad of your Dell laptop only when an external device like a mouse is attached, check the last option that says 'Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present'

That's it. You've disabled your laptop's touchpad for good. If you don't find an option to manage your touchpad in Mouse settings, you have to install Synaptics drivers from here. Similar options can be found in other laptops as well.

Good luck ! if your problem is solved don't forget to rate

How do I disable touch pad when using a mouse? ASUS K50IJ Win7 64 bit

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can goto the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Alternatively, you can permanently disable the touchpad of your laptop by clicking the "Disable Device" in the Touch Pad setting. Advanced users can disable the touchpad from the BIOS setup [press F2 when the computer is booting to enter BIOS settings]

Unfortunately, there are no keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable Touchpad movement or tapping. You can however drag the Mouse icon from the control panel to your Quick launch bar for quick access.

If that sounds too much effort, you may consider adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. This can be accessed from the Touch Pad tab of our mouse properties. Choose a low setting.
