The beeps are telling you something is not right.
Every beep is different and I'm not 100% on what means what.
Most likely something is not inserted right into the motherboard.
Go back and check you inserted the ram correctly, if that dosn't work try checking your cables (ide, power, etc.) and your cards (video, sound, etc.) as they might have slipped out of place when inserting the ram.
You might even have a bad/faulty part in the motherboard. Check the new ram stick and see if it works without it.
These basic troubleshooting steps should help you find the problem. If not it could be the cpu is burnt out.....the way to know this is if you unplug it, the beeps will disapeir or change completely.
Maby someone else on FixYa could tell you what the exact beep could be but I'm pretty sure its just something not plugged in right or a faulty part like I had just mentioned. Either way your computer should work fine once the problem is traced and fixed.

How can i fix my IBM ThinkPad T22 2647. it produce 3 simultaniuos beep sounds lcd is black out.

This is a list of ThinkPad Beep codes.
It appears you have a memory or motherboard problem, most likely a RAM problem. Try reseating the RAM modules, if this doesn't work, then remove the RAM and take them to your friendly computer repair shop to get them to test the RAM modules for you. If the RAM is faulty them replace.

Turn on laptop and it gives the cursor and a blank screen plus a continuous beeping sound.can you tell me what's wrong? Mel

sorry to say but you have Memory or video problems

Do you know what type of bios its running ?

is it one long beep ? or just short continuous beeps ?

1 long beep is graphics card failure

constant short beeps is memory failure depending on motherbord manufacture

It can be fixed by you if its short constant beeping if its the long beep tho it isnt quite as eazy as you have to remove half of the laptop to get to the graphics card

if you msg back with the laptop model number i can look into this further for you

2 beeps then error

This could be a few different issues. Please state whether it is 2 short beeps, 1 long and 1 short, or 1 short and 1 long, all of these are different errors. If it is 2 short beeps you should see an error code on screen(usually 3-5 digits).

If you dont see an error code it is most likely and AMI Bios error and if it is 2 short beeps your IBM has memory problems. If you have no video at all on screen you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your RAM. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

According to the support website, it could either a memory (DIMM) or motherboard (System board) problem. See beep codes and what them mean here:

First thing to do would be to remove the memory and put it back in (called 'reseating') to make sure there is a firm connection to the motherboard. Find out how to do this for your particular model here: Click here. If you have two memory modules installed and the remove/reseating action did not stop the beeping, try removing just one and attempt to boot the system.
  • If you get the same beeps again, remove the one you have installed and replace with the one you took out - try booting.
  • If you don't get the same beeping and you can then boot in to windows, then you've identified the bad memory module. Replace it.
If you still get the same beep code, then it sound like it's your motherboard that needs to be replaced.

Laptop problem

This is probably a memory or mother board failure.
If you google for 'beep sounds' there is a list which will tell you what various sounds mean.
Either way if the computer works OK nothing to worry about.
If the computer is malfunctioning its a workshop job.
