Question about Carrier 36KCARMS Air Conditioner
A loud whistle noise is coming from the inside unit . the unit can run for many many hours then the whistle noise starts . the unit does not have this noise when it starts up after being left , say over nite turned off , the noise seems to come from the left hand side of the inside unit , if that is any help.the model is a kelvinator split system model KSR25F-01
Test run your unit until whistling sound heard, open the front cover of your unit check if no ice formation on your evaporator fins, If ice is present check if your air filter and evaporator fins are clean. If dirty then clean both filter and evaporator fins.

It may be the small vent fan motor on the inside if the control panel. When the noise begins remove the panel and you may be able to catch it in the act.
