When I turn on my tv, 20 seconds later it shuts itself off and then it comes on again and 20 seconds later shuts off again. The screen never comes on either.

hello, If you can turn it back on with the s momentary key or power button:
When it shuts off, do you need to push the power button once or twice to get it back on? Also, does anything else about the picture or sound change as it warms up?
If once, then the controller is shutting the TV down either as a result of a (thermally induced) fault in the controller or it sensing some other problem. Monitoring the voltage on the relay coil (assuming these is one) could help determine what is happening. The controller thinks it is in charge.
If twice, then the power supply is shutting down as the controller still thinks it is on and you are resetting it. A couple of possibilities here would be low voltage or high voltage regulation error (excessive high voltage is sensed and causes shutdown to prevent dangerous X-ray emission). A partially dried up main filter capacitor could also cause a shutdown but there might be other symptoms like hum bars in the picture just before this happened. Clipping a good capacitor across the suspect (with power off!) would confirm or eliminate this possibility.
If it uses a pull-knob (or other hard on/off switch), then this may be like pulling the plug and would reset any abnormal condition. NOTE- It require you opening the back cover of the television. Goodluck

Mitsubishi VS-45605 rear projection tv

If the green light is not lighting up, you will need to check out the standby power supply inside the TV set, or if this set has a DM board, you will need to change the capacitors. Good Luck

Works on occasion.

I believe this set has two relays in the power supply. One for standby power and one for full power. I have seen cases where the full power relay drops out or not energise causing the same symptom you describe. Lightly tapping on the relay sometimes identifies the culprit.
Hope this helps

Toshiba 51H93 won't turn on **HELP**

Good Day, jsilver05;
That's a very good TV, sorry you're having a problem. I have the same TV.
1. The blurring of the pic may be an indication of a convergence problem.
2. The surge protector is not a fail safe device, it will reduce damage to the TV but will not not 100% protect it.
It is possible that by turning the power off may damaged the already weaken convergence circuit, but more then likely some other electronic device failed.Like a voltage regulator, high voltage device, and etc.
At this point I would recommend that you call a factory authorized service dealer and them come out and give you an estimate, or you can e me if want troubleshoot TV if you have digital meter etc.
Good Luck, big IRISH,

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

Panasonic rear projection TV 47 in PT 47WX49

i have the same model and this happened to my set 1 day after yours! i am sending it out for repair on monday so i can let u know what was done and what it cost. i found this: from tick-tick-tick or click-click-click but no other action A variety of power supply or startup problems can result in this or similar behavior. Possibilities include: Lack of startup horizontal drive - see the section: Startup problems - nothing happens, click, or tick-tick-tick sound. The main regulator is cycling on overvoltage due to lack of load. Excessive load or faulty power supply cycling on its overcurrent protection circuit. High voltage shutdown, or some other system detecting an out of regulation condition. However, in this case, there should be some indication that the deflection and HV is attempting to come up - momentary whine, static on the screen, etc. A dried up main filter capacitor or other filter capacitor in the low voltage power supply that is producing an out-of-regulation condition until it warms up. A bad filter capacitor on the output of a series regulator may result in excessive voltage and subsequent shutdown. A problem with the microcontroller, relay or its driver, or standby power supply. One possible test would be to vary the line voltage and observe the set's behavior. It may work fine at one extreme (usually low) or the other. This might give clues as to what is wrong.

My samsung model- HCN4226W T.V will not turn on

You should always have all expensive electronics on a surge protector. It sounds like for this set the power regulators blown out as I know this set very well and seen it a hundred times!! its a power regulator IC that cant handle a power surge at all. and if thats your only problem, it shouldnt cost more then 175.00 to 250.00 to repair. Now with a surge though there could be other problems as well but from what you stated Im guessing alls ok except what i stated. Now Please do not attempt to repair yoursels, as these sets have alot of Hi voltage inside them even when they are unplugged.. Good Luck
