Question about LG LFX25960 Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator
Lately, a new fan noise or motor noise from the freezer section started. It stops when I open the refrigerator door, but continues when I pull open the freezer. I also have a lot of frost that developed in the freezer section. The unit is only 1-1/2 years old, as has run well up until now. The doors seem to seal well when closed, and it sits level on the floor. Thanks in advance for any help with this problem!
I don't usually buy the service plan but I did for this unit (hey it's gen 1). The service guy said he has seen this problem quite a bit and that LG created a new RCM board to fix it (part# BBR34917104). Apparently the OEM board didn't detect the ice build up on the fan motor very well. I had the new board installed two days ago and defrosted the freezer. So far so good, I'll post again if I have any further issues.

I ve had ice maker fixed under warranty twice motor noise once now its 2 yrs old and having both problems again called LG talked to management I was told I would have buy the parts and pay someone to put them in. i wonder how often this has to be done every year ? LG is terrible product we also got a letter saying the efficency rating was wrong what a ripoff

For everybody with the noise problem. The solution is to replace both fan motors along with all sleeves and noise damper parts. I have taken out both of the fans and have found that being a DC motor the wheel degrades over a period of time. This makes the shaft wobble, making the noise that everybody is refering to. The degrading of the wheel also effects the speed of the fans. Slowing them down to a point that eventually the refrigerator is effected.

I've had this problem a couple of times.... Usually the fan starts to collect ice.... The only way I know to fix it, is to take the fan out and melt the ice...How to keep it from happening again is still a mystery
