Formatting the sansa e250

Just bought a sansa e250. It came with about a gig of stuff on there I really don't want and can't even find to delete. After I format the device, will the sansa graphical menus and all the submenus also be gone, or are they in the ROM and still be there when it's been formatted? Also, any special settings the sansa should be in to format?

I've bought a new sansa e250, by mistake i copied few videos directly into video folder, and after disconneting it from the computer i am unable to see the files in the player. I reconnected the player to the system and now i am unable to see the files in the video folder. My problem is that it took the space of the files and i'm unable to free the space. Can u please suggest me, how to format entire e250 player to get my space back with out affecting the system files of the player.

Yes, formatting will retain the interface and everything else necessary to run the device. It only removes what you have put on the unit. Also, format anytime you begin to have strange problems with the device that can't be songs that don't appear after you've transferred them.

My 2Gig Sansa says it is full - and indeed almost the full two gigs are used up, and yet the music folder is not even 1 gig full and all the other folders, even the hidden ones, are empty - 0 bytes. Where...

The Sansa player can hook up to a computer in two different modes. Through normal use it can switch modes on it's own, although rare it can happen. Now stuff added in one mode can not be seen in the other mode and you can not delete the files. So you have MSC mode which means Mass storage class and is the best mode to use. Then MTP mode means Media transfer protocol, you have to use this mode if you use Napster and such to download MP3's with protected content (DRM) you have to set the player to one mode or the other, to see the files and delete the files you want to delete or to find the missing room. MSC makes your player look like a thumb drive, and is easy to use. If you need any more info go to

Delete songs from my sansa e250

You can only delete songs from this player when it's connected to a computer. There are two modes of adding songs to this player. You need to remove the songs with the same method you added them. Alternatively format the whole player - but make sure you do it the way Sansa recommends, not by formatting in windows.

My sansa e250

If you want to delete EVERY track off the player, then reformat the player in Windows Media Player - it's a shortcut - see my "tips and tricks" on formatting mp3 players

If there are artist, album traces, then you need to click on every subfolder under your device in Windows Media Player and delete every trace that way - tedious, but effective

There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

You should reformat your disk so that the error goes away, in the menu please find the format the disk, or connect the stuff to the computer then format it using the computer. (all files will be deleted during formatting)

If this not work you can replace the disk of your stuff.

may this help! regards, melnavz
