How can I import my pictures to my new computer. I have a smart zoom dsc-p41 cameral and a new Dell computer with Windows 8?

With the camera came a disk, with software for your computer. Before you can connect the camera, you have to install the software. It could be the driver on the disk is old and windows 8 won't allow you to install that one. If that happens, visit the sony support site to download the newest software and drivers. (also go there if you can't find your disk)
Only after you installed the software, you can connect the camera and switch it on.

Need a Vivitar VC5050 installation disk - I think!

You don't need to install the camera.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I wanted to transfer some pictures onto my computer, but my computer wont read it. My camera charges and it works fine but when i go to "my computer" my camera won't show up on there. please...

I am not sure how new/old your camera is but when I had that problem I had to re-install the Kodak software that came with my camera. It worked fine after that. My new Kodak i just bought-(of which i am not a fan of Kodak but had to go cheap when looking for a long zoom) worked right away without installing anything-it didn't come with a disk either; however; it showed up in the My Pictures section not the My maybe check of luck

Have finepix 5200. New Dell Home Premium WIN 7. Installed software, updated drivers. Cannot import photos, either thru USB port or card reader.Worked fine on old computer (XP). Use Kasperski AV 2010.

Not sure with WIN7 but, when connected and camera on, can you go to My computer and see the camera or an extra drive ?

If so click on and try and open the drive, if you're still cooking on gas try copy/past to a folder on you pc.

Most cameras will work with Vista with built in drivers, just plug the camera usb cable into the computer. You should be able to see the camera under "Computer".

Polaroid digital camera i832 was working fine through USB cable. Received an Ipod shuffle for Mother's day, downloaded the software, loaded my Ipod and now my camera doesn't work. I'm think it's the Itunes...

the maxtor is your computers hard drive- the computer will also see your ipod as a hard drive-leave everything alone and use a memory card reader to transfer pics from card to computer-no software plug n play

Downloading Problem

I have always advised folk to leave the software disk in the box when connecting cameras and the like to a NTFS system. Plug it into USB port and Windoze will find it. Should be the same with Vista I guess Leave the disk in the box- or of you have installed stuff uninstall it. And let Windoze do the work.
