Toshiba laptop driving me crazy

IT's a toshiba sattellite, it's fairly new and should have none of these problems that i am experiencing. It hangs, it freezes, it stops. I close a program out and almost every time it stays on the screen, even the task manager doesn't see it. I re installed windows recently after a crash wouldn't let me boot it up. so i did a clean install. I didn't go into the bios before, is that the problem? should i have writtten zeros to the drive before i reinstalled xp?
it was working fine before it crashed. (out of the blue, it wouldn't boot, i'd turn it on, and it'd give me the blue screen of death. No prior hardware changes or software for that matter.

it's just slow as mollasses now, i'm tempted to take it apart and see if the cpu fan is clogged. (it is louder than ever also).

thank you for your time.

Re: toshiba laptop driving me crazy

Looks like you know much about it so yeah if there is a noise from the fan that means the prossesor is overheating because there is not enugh ventilation due to the failure bearings or bushings fan....and blue screens may be due by bad operative software and bad memory ram

Hello, I am repairing a Toshiba Equium A300D 16C for a customer. The laptop had been dropped so I am replacing the inverter. To check the health of the laptop I plugged the laptop into an external monitor...

Correct, you will not be able to get around this password issue without replacing the board. Do you mean boot password? The bios admin password only comes up when you tell it to go into the bios. If it is a boot password and she does not know what it is, there is a chance she doesn't really own the laptop. I have had this happen to me before. Be real careful on this. I suggest pulling the drive and looking for documents with the name of the owner on them to confirm they are the same.

I am repairing a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5068 that was dropped. The screen was obviously in need of replacement, so I ordered and installed a new screen. I also put in a new HDD. The laptop turns on but...

check the ram is seating correctly also take it out and blow some air into the ram holder. Dust inbetween the contacts can cause problems and laptops attract dust better than a dyson hoover :) , also check for dust build up in the heatsink and fan assembly it also may be overheating. Thats what i would check first, if you have spare ram trying changing it. If none of the above remedy the problem, it may have a hairline crack on the M/Board and thats why it freezes , flexing the motherboard while disassembled and out of the housing is the only way to really detect hairline cracks though

It will not charge or turn on at switch.sat. L-45 any suggestions?

sounds like a Maxim power driver failure. You'll need to do a redistributive resolder. Check out this tutorial for Toshiba m35 laptop main board repair of the Maxim 1987 power chip. This is a fairly common problem with plenty of Toshiba and HP laptop models, and experience the same symptoms that you list. Hope this helps.

Toshiba Tecra M3 will not boot, no video, pwr + hdd light on

If not beeps you didn't hear then it's your Motherboard. But, there other problems aside on it.
Laptop maybe have a problem with Power Connection, see to it that your Laptop Power Adapter is supply exact voltage to your Laptop, low voltage power also may cause not to give power your laptop sufficient, if it is does.
And if none of this then it's your Motherboard.
Hope this tip might help you.
Good luck!

Computer cant read drivers after isntalling new HD

Computer sounds fine, CD sounds dead! Try copying the drivers onto a new CD using another computer & try them in the laptop again. The drivers may be Vista-specific anyway, so try downloading XP drivers from Toshiba website.

Toshiba screen wont turn on

Ok folks, not to sure if anyone is following this, However, I posted a problem a week or so ago, and this is an update to that problem. in Regards to my Toshiba M35x-S161 problem with the screen not coming on nor booting up. This is an update and may not be the same for all of you concerned.
I have checked the ram memory and found that to be working, and as mentioned was able to access the hard drive using a caddy to see that it is intact. However, shortly after doing so (I had copied pictures to a thumb nail for my sister), I began to experience a slowdown on my IBM laptop. It suddenly hit me, VIRUS. I scanned the IBM through Housecall, and what ever was affecting it caused house call to shut down 3 times, but did finally clean it. I pulled the Toshiba's hard drive stuck it into the Caddy and ran a scan on it using AVG and yet another IBM that is clean. After a slow scan there it was, not 1, not 2, but 3 Trojan virus plus 2 down loaders and a few other goodies. With the now cleaned Hard drive, I tried booting the Toshiba, and at first I still experienced the same problem, then a funny thing happened. I laid the laptop down an hit the side of it and poof here came the boot up. Unfortunately, it wouldn't go all the way, but enough to tell me that 'MOST LIKELY' the Virus halted the computer operation but killing the boot sector, and secondly, because it was stalled out in the boot up, it over heated, and "may have" loosened a solder connection on or near the switch or the power connector. I haven't had the time to take the unit apart yet, but plan to as soon as I can get a couple of days off.
I don't know how many of you this may help out, but at least this forum gives me a place to post my progress... will keep you updated as I can..
