McCulloch 310 chainsaw won't start - Spark Plug Removal?

Just purchased a very nice used 310 and it has old gas in it. I changed the oil/gas using proper mixture and it still won't crank. I feel stupid evening mentioning this, but I can't find the spark plug to clean. Anyone know what to remove to make it show up?

You may have to remove a cover to find the plug. Truth be told I dont know where it is either ... but I am willing to bet that you, like me, know there IS a plug in there somewhere and you are willing to jump in the pool (so to say, if necessary) to find it.

You may want to get some throttle body cleaner (AKA carb spray) and spray some into the carb to help clear away gunk left from the stale gas. Spray and pull the rope sucking the stuff into the engine.

Good luck ... when you find it ... tell me where it is.

(Oh yea ... while at the auto parts place --- get a new plug - forget that old plug.)

Try this it checks the kill switch and wiring too.

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode.

The stuff in my fuel tank looked like gear oil. I dumped it out added some 50:1 Stihl mix. Turned both needle valves 1.5 CCW from lightly seated. Poured a little directly into carburetor throat and she started. It wouldn't run at speed until I jazzed the throttle a few times. Just a few minutes ago I chocked it pulled about 3 times it burped. Opened choke and it started. I need to play with it some it is running way to fast but she runs and accelerates. I need to work on the oiler after I get the speed down. Good luck with yours.

McCulloch 320 chainsaw, won't start, removed spark plug, it was saturated in gas mix, how do I fix it? Guess I should ask if it's worth fixing first, lol...Thanks

If the saw had been sitting a while, especially without fuel stabilizer in the pre-mix,. change out the fuel and try a few more times.. it si a goof idea to allways use fuel stabilizer fro all the small engines..
Best regards

Chain saw has been sitting at dads old house . hasnt been run in 20 yrs. mcculloch (mac120). no oil in it or gas or spark plug. how should i go about getting it to run ?? i know put fuel in it . but size...

Don't think you mean electric..Anyhow when adding gas for the first time start after 20years, add a pint of oil to gallon of gas. If it turns over and starts, then you can lean it down later. Google for spark plug or go to manufacturers site. good luck

I have a McCulloch Model PM 310 , Gas Chainsaw. How would the spark plug be accessed?....Rich

Storing a chain saw for longer than 30 days requires storage maintenance. Unless the storage instructions are followed, fuel remaining in the carburetor will evaporate, leaving gum-like deposits. This could lead to difficult starting and result in costly repairs. Never store a chain saw for longer than 30 days without performing the following procedures:
Remove the fuel tank cap slowly to release any pressure in tank. Carefullydrain the fuel tank.Start the engine and let it run until the unit stops to remove fuel from carburetor. Allow the engine to cool (approximately 5 minutes).
Using a spark plug wrench, remove the spark plug.
Pour 1 teaspoon of clean 2-cycle oil into the combustion chamber. Pull starter rope slowly several times to coat internal components. Replace spark plug.
Store the unit in a dry place and away from possible sources of ignition such as a furnace, gas hot water heater, gas dryer, etc. When removing the unit from storage, be sure to perform the following procedures:Remove spark plug. Pull starter rope briskly to clear excess oil from combustion chamber.Clean and gap spark plug or install a new spark plug with proper gap.Prepare unit for operation.Fill fuel tank with proper fuel/oil mixture.

This will help. Thanks, please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Spark plug for mcculloch 2014 2.0ci and what is oil to gas mix

Not sure about the spark plug but the mix:
Any quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 years ± 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
Today most gas in the US of A contains ethanol; not good with chainsaws. mix what expect to use within a few months. Anything over 6 months use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

Mcculloch 310 oil mix ratio

The proper gas/oil ratio is 50:1, that is 50 parts gas, to one part (2) cycle oil.

If you plan on leaving gas in the tank when not being used, I always recommend adding some gas stabilizer, such as Sta-bil, which makes starting the chain saw easier regardless of how long the fuel mix has been sitting in the tank or saw (up to 2 years according to Sta-bil label)

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Gas to oil ratio for a McCulloch power mac 310

When in doubt 40:1 is the always safe mix for any 2 stroke, synthetic oils 50+:1 use there recommendations. Always use the same(premium quality) 2 stroke oil to avoid fuel issues.
