I have a similar problem. Instead of 4hrs to complete the charging process, it's taking closer to 40hrs. I've tried it on several different computers, as well as buying an AC adapter, replacing the rechargeable battery, and reformatting the player and flashing it's firmware. Nothing has helped. It still will take a full charge, and once charged the battery lasts as long as it always has, it just takes 10x longer to charge than it should.

When you unplug it try holding the power button for 20 seconds or more.

Sansa won't turn on. I charged it, then it worked for 1 song - went off and now it is not turning on

Did you recently buy this item? Sometimes you must completely charge your mp3 player. Usually takes about 5 hours.

Sansa e250

i know i have to charge my sansa for at least 7-8 hours before the battery will show it is full. about your other problem, i believe there is an option under the settings menu to automatically shut your sansa off. If not then you can turn off the backlight and that will save alot of battery life.
