Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Improper installation of kenmore refrig.

In our new home the plumbers installed a Kenmore Elete side-by-side. The next morning there was a leak from apparently the icemaker ruining the new wooden floor. The Sears man said it was not their fault but that the water line was not bled free of air by the plumber causing the leak.(All connections tight). My contractor says that is bull and a ploy by sears to avoid paying for the damages, and that line bleeding is not necessary since any Tom Dick or Harry can do the installation and not that complicated. What do you all think.

Re: Improper installation of kenmore refrig.

Actually not bleeding the line can cause leakage on some models and yours is one of them, you need to have a heart to heart with the installer. not every one can install water to an icemaker. your owners manual should have the warning in it.

Kenmore refrig/freezer. freezer side is cold,

Check your condenser coil (should be below the refrig.). If dirty, you can clean it with a condenser brush from Home Depot or Lowe's. Turn the appliance off while cleaning. Be careful not to damage the refrigerant tubing (copper). If this doesn't solve the problem, then there may be an issue with the defrost thermostat, defrost heater(s) or the main temperature control assembly.

Contact an appliance service company.

Water is leaking from freezer into lower compartment of kenmore

If you think it is the ice maker then shut down the water supply and see if the leak stops. Most likely though it is probably a blocked defrost drain.

Warm refrig and freezer

You probably need some refrigerant added. There probably is a leak in the system that caused the lack of refrigerant. Get the leak fixed and add refrigerant before you blow your compressor too. Or get a new fridge.
