Yep, I bought a new 1G Sandisk Duo Pro w/ adapter and also got a memory stick error. My old 64MB Sony Memory Stick still works fine. I don't know but I wander if there is a limit to the max memory that the camera can recognize. I wander if there is a software update to the camera that might permit larger than 64MB

I'm having the same problem but mine is a sandisk pro duo with adapter but is 128mb which the camera is supposed to support. Any ideas o why this error happens with memory that is within limits?

The problem is compatibility - or lack thereof. The older Sony cameras such as DSC-S50 (I have one), which used the original version of the Sony Memory Stick, can't read the new Memory Stick Pro - even with the "Duo" adapter.

I don't know all the specifics but it has to do with how the memory chip interfaces w/ the camera, how the data is transferred -- newer models of chips/cameras use a different, faster method for data transfer which the older cameras/devices can't do. Similar to "serial" vs. "USB" vs. "USB-2" issues with older computers.

So, sorry to say, but if you have a DSC-S50 camera like I do or similar older model, you're stuck w/ the standard Memory Sticks - which I have just discovered are very hard to find any more. I just finished a sweep of all major electronic stores/outlets in my area (silicon valley - where there's plenty of them), plus many web sites. And all you can find new, now, are the Pro/Duo chips, 1GB & up.

Anyway I hope this helps!

I second that motion!  I even tried copying the resident files from the "original" (64MB) Memory Stick to the formatted & blank "new" Memory Stick, to try to trick it into being an "original" and it didn't work!  C:13:01 error is what I keep getting, so after I run it over a few times with the truck, run it thru the washing machine, and set it on fire.......I'm taking the new one back to Wal-Mart!  Ce la Vie!

Have Sony CyberShot DSC-F707 Sony Memory Stick Duo Adaptor and Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 4gb When installed get C:1301 error

In DSCT1 Camera, the C:13:01 error message indicates a Self diagnostic message. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camera. In C:13:01, the issue is with the Memory Stick being used in the Camera.

The Symptoms are:

Memory Stick Pro Duo 4GB is not compatible with the DSCF707 Camera. Maximum capacity supported by the Camera is up to 128MB. Please try using a MS with 128 MB and check if it works. A dedicated adapter (MSAC-M2) must be attached to use Memory Stick Duo or MagicGate Memory Stick Duo media.

I have a sandisk memory stick duo. The pictures and videos can be viewed while in the sony webbie. When I plug it up to transfer the pictures/videos to the computer I get an error message. Is there...

Connect the memory card/stick to a USB memory card reader and then plug it into the USB port in the computer. The computer will see this as an external memory card.

Not able to copy movies on Sony 8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for PSP

Before you go throwing any old video file onto your PSP, make sure you have the following items:
  • The PSP. This is self-explanatory.
  • The .MP4 video files.
  • Video conversion software to convert non-MP4 files to MP4, the format the PSP reads.

Ive bought a new memory card for my pentax optic e10 camera when ive inserted it it is reading memory card error what can i do

This camera takes an SD (secure digital) memory card according to amazon and google. Looks like your using a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo which would not be compatible.
Try using an SD card.

Place PBP files in the GAME folder and ISO/CSO games in the ISO folder of the Memory Stick root. You might have to make this folder yourself.

what do you mean nothing happens???
the memory stick pro duo should fit right into the sony cybershot....
if your struggling to load your photos onto your computer buy a universal memory card reader!
you should try and use a memory stick in a camera that needs an sd though!

File error

I was having the same problem with my 4GB memory stick pro duo, when i took more than 50 pictures with my camera (dsc-w90) i would get the blue screen with the file error message. I'm guessing you bought the memory stick on ebay right? I bought mines there and it turns out it's a fake one. If you also bought it there then you most likely have a fake memory stick because I found out that most of the memory sticks sold on ebay are fake, to help you figure out if you have a fake one or not check out this guide or google fake memory stick pro duo.
