Maybe I can help. This symptom is caused by so many different failures inside the set. Most commonly, convergence chips go bad. Next, capacitors get weak in the power and sub power supplies. And finally, the hyper module eventually needs to be rebuilt by replacing all low value surface mount capacitors. All of these repairs will be needed on your set. All of these repairs require test equip and soldering / desoldering equip. In most cases you can have the set repaired for 200-350 and expect the high end of that range. If you attempt repairing it yourself, you can usually check for open pico fuses on the board, then disconnect the convergence yokes to see if set comes up temporairily. The best I can do is to inform you of your options and what to expect. Overall, it is a good, long lasting set and if it is repaired properly the first time, you should get at least ten more years from it. Well worth it in comparison to a new set that commonly requires an extended service plan just to get through the first five years. Good luck, Russmann.

over the last week my 57h83's display has developed a sort of "flicker". I kinda reminds me of the appliance interference you would get from a microwave or such. The problem is worse on start up then gradually settles in but never truly goes away. Sometimes the picture is crystal clear then jumps back to the distorted view. The lines run horizontal and "flicker" some. I have checked all the cables and it happens with all input devices (cable, stereo, dvd)on all video inputs (video 1,2,3) The unit is from 2003.

We moved the tv yesterday to hook-up a piece of equipment and now we have no blue in the picture. The picture is clear and crisp, but everything that would have been blue is now green.
