Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV6000 Top Load Washer
My old washer recently gave out on me and my son just brought me down a replacement. It's a top loading Atlantis and is almost new, it's just that his buddy got a divorce and didn't need it.
It bangs when it spins, as if it was off balance, but no matter how we rearrange the clothes, it won't stop. It does however work fine if it's empty.
I am wondering if something could have been jilted in transport or if there is a way to adjust the tub, because there does seem to be more play in it than there should be.
Its possible that a spring has broken, become overstretched, or otherwise failed. Also there is a delrin ring called a snubber that the tub moves on (between the base of the machine and the frame of the tub) it wears out and causes this complaint. I also recommend new springs with a snubber. However replacing a snubber is quite tricky and you will probably need a Tech for that.
