The element on our Kenmore oven lit up like a sparkler and continued even after it was turned off. Only when it was unplugged did it stop sparking.

I have the same problem. After shutting off the controls, burner will heat up to high and shut back off continuously until I unplug the oven. Do I need to buy a new element??

Yes the element failed and they will arc when they do that.Ive actually seen people hose them down with a fire extinguisher only to have it still arc. Bake elements are inexpensive and very easy to install.

Kenmore electric oven will not bake

The bake element
is the heating element that is found at the bottom of the oven. Most electric ovens use both the bake element and the broil element in a bake cycle, with the bake element performing 90% of the heating. If the bake element isn't working, the oven may not heat. To help determine if the bake element is defective you should first do a visual check. If the element is blistered or separated then it should be replaced. If the element appears to look normal, then turn the oven on to a bake function for a minute and then turn it off.

Check the element for signs of heating and if it is still cold then it may be defective. Disconnect the power and then remove the back panel. First check the wires as they may have become loose or corroded. If the element appears to be fine visually, test it for continuity with a multi-meter. If the element is burned or no longer has continuity, it will need to be replaced.

Bake and Broil elements quit working

Could be both elements, control board cause usually both elements don't go out simutaneously, or even just your breaker. check for continuity on elements unplugged of course.... and 220v at plug. also check for burnt wires to elements. some models have a cavity high-limit switch located on back for safety. check for continuity on this if you have such...hope this helps

F2 error display on kenmore oven model 911.47869. Bottom element not working but has continuity on ohmmeter. Top element working. Oven sensor has continuity on ohmmeter too. What else to check???

Hello, That is great that the oven tempreture sensor has continuity but you would need to do an ohms test on the sensor itself and it should read at room tempreture between 1000-1100 ohms any less then this and you would replace the sensor. If you did have between the proper amount of ohms on the tempreture sensor you would then look at replaceing the control board but most likely in your unit it is due to a bad oven tempreture sensor. If you have any further questions message me back also make sure you unplug the sensor and the oven before performing this test. Thanks Rick

Kenmore oven not working

Hi, You need to unplug the stove, take the back panel off and check continuity on the bake element or after the back panel is removed, plug the oven back in, and turn oven to bake. You should get 240Volts to the two terminals on the bake element. If you have 240 Volts, the element is bad and needs replaced. I can ship you the new element.

Hope this helps

Kenmore Oven going crazy

The bang may have been an element arcing over.  Turn off the power and remove the element.  If it shows any form of damage, replace it.  If you're not sure, use a continuity checker to check it.  If you have two elements...do this for both.  You will likely find the problem.
