I have an lg chocolate phone to which I downloaded music into its memory and an sd card I put in. I would like to transfer some of that music to use as a ringtone. How do I do this? I am tired of paying for a piece of a ringtone and what to use mine for free. Please help.

Re: transfering my music as a ringtone
I've always just converted the files on my computer to .wav files then sent them as a PIX message to my phone. In the text message options on your phone there is an option to save audio as ringtone. Hope this helps. You can google MP3 to Wav converters. There are free software for this.

It is possible another way...Best buy cells micro sd memory cards costing about $12 for a 2 MB. It comes with an apapter to put into your memory card slot into your computer. So you put little memory card into the apapter into the computer card slot. Drap and drop songs on the card and woolah. Put the little card in to the Micro SD slot in your phone....
Go to www.bestbuy.com and search micro sd cards.
Go to Menu, then under the "Settings & Tools" section, choose option 8 (Memory). Choose option 2 (Phone Memory), then option 1 (Phone Memory Usage). This will tell you the available MB on your phone.
Or, go to Memory, choose option 3 (Card Memory), then Card Memory Usage.
If you have 0MB left on both, then you will need to delete some ringtones, wallpaper, music, etc. to clear up some space.
If you still have room, you will have to take the phone to a Verizon store. More than likely if this is the case, the phone has a glitch in the downloading. You may of downloaded a virus while downloading music/ringtones/wallpaper.
After reading through the archives of related problems, I decided to try some of the suggestions. Here is what I did for my LG Shine...I checked the sd card on the computer to make sure all the data i transferred was on the card and it was. After that, I use the music player on the cell phone to load the music into my library and was able to listen to the music stored on the sd card. The music which was downloaded to the sd card will only play through the music player on the cell phone and for the ringtones I went to the website and made my ringtones. http://makeownringtone.com/ This is the fool proof way of making your favorite songs your ringtone. Follow the instructions giving and in under 3 mins you can make your ringtone. The ringtones have to be under 300kb and in the mp3 format. Its really simple and easy to use and downloaded them to my computer. Hint of advice: email it to yourself that way you can forward it to your friends and family. Might I remind you that its FREE!!!!
Plug in you r phone with your USB to your PC and then Go to MY Computer and see the drive letter where your LG phone connect (removable disk), click there and see the sub folders inside and you will see a folder named MUSIC, here where you can save the mp3 (music) you wanted for your phone.
