SOURCE: Intimus 280 shredder noise

The 280 is notorious for buildup of paper in the cutting cylinders and strippers.
If you are technical, unplug from wall, disassemble top cover and clean all the debris. Check nylon strippers (white plastic) for damage.

SOURCE: the paper will not go through my shredder

Can you actually see the cutter blades rotating? I have seen gears broken and you can hear the motor running but no blade movement. Remove the screws lift the top off carefully because their is a short ribbon cable connected to the main board and can easily be damaged. Of course unplug from power outlet first.
Gears and motor can be puurchased.

SOURCE: the shredder will not cut the paper. the motor

I just had this problem. I took the screws out from the bottom of the shredder and opened it up, take a look and see if there are any cracks around the frame that surrounds and holds the shredder in place, if so you have to glue the crack so the frame is stable again.(the crack/break in the frame prevents the paper from cutting because the teeth on the shredder are not fitted properly). hope this helps.

How do I stop shredder from spitting documents in and out?
Try cleaning the cutters well. This will require you UNPLUGGING the shredder. Turning it (the top feeding-cutting) part upside down and removing ALL paper and if you see paper clips or staples-REMOVE THEM! You will need to start the motor several times to move the cutting blades around for a complete cycle to make sure you have removed all debris from the cutting blades.
If this does not work you may have an electrical problem you will not be able to solve. Look for your shredder number in the link provided below and download.

How do I get top off to clear Paper Jam on Fellowes PS-12Cs
FELLOWES SHREDDER
In case of a paper jam , which may occur if the shredder is pushed beyond its specified capabilities, press the control switch to the off [O] position and empty the basket if full. Then:
1) Press and hold control switch in reverse [R] position and attempt to back paper out of shredder.
2) If shredder jams in reverse mode, press control switch to automatic [I] position and attempt to continue shredding operation.
3) If shredder jams again, alternate control switch slowly between reverse [R] and automatic [I] positions to attempt to move jammed paper completely through shredder.
If you are unable to clear the jam using this method, turn off and unplug the shredder; remove the wastebasket from cabinet and carefully remove any paper extending below the cutting cylinders; empty the wastebasket; insert wastebasket and repeat jam clearing procedure.

Secondly, paper shredders that are used more will need more lubrication. A paper shredder under heavy usage will need oil about once every four hours, while one under normal use will only require oil once or twice a month. Most manufacturers recommend oiling the cutters once every 30 minutes of accumulative shredding, but an easy way to remember is just to oil your paper shredder every time you change the bag. The type of material as well as amounts fed at once can also effect performance and lead to the need for oil.

Cuts through paper but does not shred completely
You need to disassemble the unit and then sharpen the teeth of the shredder. Use can use sand paper, one by one sharpen it until all the metal teeth of the shredder becomes sharpen. I hope my advise help you. Good luck!

I have a 10X confetti paper shredder model # PCUA 29054E. When I put the paper in it shredds spuratically. It will shred then stop then continue then stop completely. If I back it up it might continue but...
Lubricate the machine....put shredder oil onto a sheet of paper and shred it...do this a number of times to get the oil down into the cutting blades... x-cut shredders should be oiled regularly.

How do I remove excess EXCESS oil from my shredder? It won't shred.
Asking why you should keep your shredder lubricated is no different than asking why you should change the oil in your car every 3,000 miles. Not only is proper maintenance a requirement to maintain an active warranty, but all mechanical parts need a little oil to help them turn smoothly and to keep them clean. Applying shredder oil to the cutting heads inside a shredder lubricates them so that they efficiently destroy documents sheet after sheet. Fortunately, you will find that taking good care of your shredder is less expensive, faster and easier than caring for your car.
Every time you shred a sheet of paper a fine dust made of tiny paper particles is produced. This dust collects in the cutting assembly of a paper shredder. If allowed to build up, this dust will compact until it completely blocks the smooth turning of the cutting head. Shredder oil will actually break up the compacted dust lodged in the cutting assembly, allowing the parts to move and push out the softened dust.
Shredder oil is specially formulated to eliminate oil residue on the cutting head. Other oils, like WD-40, will attract dust, further clogging the cutters. When lubricating your paper shredder, only use oil specifically designated for shredder use or risk voiding your warranty and further clogging your shredder.
The frequency with which you should oil your shredder depends on several factors: frequency of use, shredder capacity, cut size and type of paper. Your shredder will need more oil the more you use it, the more paper you shred at once and the thicker the paper is that you shred. Also, shredders with smaller shred sizes require extra oil. A 1/4" strip cut shredder used only one to two hours per week will only require a weekly oiling. A cross cut shredder, on the other hand, requires oil after every half hour of use. If you remember to oil your shredder every time you change the bag you'll be in good shape.
There are two fast, easy ways to oil a paper shredder:
The first method involves applying the oil directly to the cutting head. Shredder oil is packaged either in plastic squeeze bottles or aerosol cans, designed for easy application. No tools are required, just aim the bottle directly at the cutting head, through the paper entry point, and apply a fine stream of oil from one end of the cutter to the other. Run the machine in reverse for 10-15 seconds until the entire cutting mechanism is coated. Finally, shred a few pieces of paper to remove any excess oil from the cutters.
The alternative method requires streaming oil onto a piece of paper. Do not soak the sheet in oil, but cover it evenly from edge to edge. Shred the oiled sheet of paper and then run the shredder in reverse for 10-15 seconds to allow the oil to coat the entire cutting mechanism. Finally, shred a few sheets of paper to remove any excess oil from the cutters. In any case, run a couple of sheets of paper through the shredder after oiling to remove excess oil. procedure may be repeated up to three times to ensure proper lubrication.
If you take a few seconds once a week or every time you change your shredder bag to oil the cutting mechanism in your paper shredder, you'll maintain your warranties and keep your shredder running smoothly and efficiently document after document.

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred
Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.
