Does it chirp and flash before it goes out? if so, the problem is the zero volt ground reference level. you need a jumper wire from the power supply to the main board. if you are handy with a soldering iron, here: http://www.infocus.com/service/asc/communications/tech_notes/2006/09/tn495g.pdf

Dear Sirs, I have a BENQ PE8700 projector. I know it's outdated, but it still suits me fine. I've already changed the lamp, and this new one is 1000 hours old. I am recently having a problem:...

If the bulb on this projector is filament less then it may be a bad ballast. If it is that kind of a bulb the ballast is like the starter on a florescent bulb that excites the internal gases for light to be emitted. If it conks out, the bulb stops emitting light even though the cooling fan stays on.

I have a infocus IN35 that at 100 hours burnt out a bulb. Thinking that it was just a bulb problem I bought a new bulb and it lasted 20 minutes. a t.v.repair shop said its probably the ballast that is the...

It is not a common problem. Ballasts rarely need repairs. Have you reset the lamp hours to zero after installing new bulb? If, yes to confirm about ballast please ask the TV repair shop man whether previously he had repaired any DLP projector. There is lot of difference in technology of DLP projector & TV (except DLP Projection TV). The problem could be in the projector main board. The lamp lights after getting Lamp ON signal from the projector main board. As the lamp ignites the ballast sends the signal of Lamp Lit. If the projector board senses that any blower/exhaust fan or colour wheel is not running then it will send a signal to Switch OFF the lamp. If you are tech-savvy then do as follows to check about lamp & ballast. Remove 5 pin connector from the projector. Connect projector to mains supply. Get a 5V DC power supply. Connect +ve to pin 3 & -ve to pin 4 of the ballast connector from this supply. The lamp should light. If it does not light then there is problem in the ballast (if the lamp is new). To give a chance you can check it for your lamp which lasted 20 minutes. Generally ballasts are made by OSRAM. You can get the ballast from OSRAM dealer. You will need the part number for that. Take out the ballast, it is there on it.

It lights up then after a few minutes it goes off. red lights go on. the fans are working and the fan screen is clean

Hi I am Vortash sounds to me like a ballast or bulb fault this could be one of those silly faults you sometimes get .. the unit thinks the bulb has gone .. why because it goes out the processor is told this and the machine acts accordingly . Now I have had where the plug that is in the bulb housing is at fault the connectors expand under heat part and the bulb dies also had the same where the fittings on the end of the bulb wires are not secure and the same happens .. Also it could be a more serious Ballast failure or simply dry joints around the ballast unit ... without looking for myself I couldn't be sure but this is where I would start .. hope this is of help Regards Vortash

Canon LV-S1 New bulb but won't power up

Have you cleaned the filters? In this situation, the fan and power shuts down even before the bulb lights up and heats up the unit, but perhaps the unit can detect clogged filters.

You can download the manual here if you don't have one. Instructions for cleaning the filters are on page 37.

Overheating

Hello,

Please clean the filters for the air and the air circulation path for cooling the lamp.

This will definitely work, pls also check that the condition of lamp is okay or not as sometimes lamp goes with the ballast unit of the lamp and that damages the new lamp.
