Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Power for PS3

I just plugged in my new PS3 and it turns green for about 2 seconds then yellow and then back to red. Help!

It sounds like you have a power supply fault or cooling fan is broken. Kasjr23 take your ps3 back to shop where purchased from as they will replace it. seven721 phone sony and explain the problem and they will send you a replacement as all systems come 1 year warranty. the service is very good from sony and they replaced mine in two days. hope this helps

you got the yellow light of death, you would need to reflux solder on the processors and reheat the solder, here is a link for the repair, I suggest you take it to a pro if you feel you can not do it, you can mess up your ps3 if you don't do it right and taking it apart is a delicate job.

My Ps3 is only staying on for 4 seconds (green for 2 seconds and yellow for 2 seconds) and then flashes red. when i tap the power button it stays red and repeats.

call sony the problem can be several things

call sony even if your console is out of warenty
i had the same problem a couple of months back and warenty was expired by a few months i called them and they gae me a refurbished ps3 free

Help ps3 wont turn on

try this. works for slimline PS2

1) turn off PS3
2) unplug PS3 and wait a couple minutes before plugging back in.
3) turn on PS3

Hi my ps3 wont star i hold the start button it turns on for 2 seconds with the green blincking lights and switches it self off with the green light now turning yellow for 2 seconds then to red and stays...

It's likely that you are a victim of poor design. Your problem is referred to as the Yellow Light of Death or YLOD.

Ps3 not turning on

The only thing i can think of is click the switch to turn off the PS3 completely leave it off for about 30 second turn the switch back on and try again. If the doesn't work you may have a problem with your power supply and might need to get your PS3 serviced
