the make of the cartridge is irrelevant
the number on the side has to be the same
for example a hp genuine 61 xl is the same cartridge as a generic 61xl
go to a printer re- inker shop and ask them for interchangeable cartridges
Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the color cartridge.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
Reinsert the color cartridge.
Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the black or photo cartridge.
If replacing cartridges fails to correct the problem, click the link at the top of this page to contact HP.
You should first check and make sure it is the correct cartridge, and was not packaged wrong(know this because it happened to me a year ago wrong cartridge in package). If it is right check and clean your conntacts and reinstall. It may be a defective cartridge or the jet contacts are not working on the cartridge. If it still does not work take it back and get a replacement telling them it is defective. Then try again making ure contacts are clean on printer also. Good luck. Any problems leave a comment and I'll get back to you.
No, you do not need 3 cartridges or anything like that. Some cartridges have chips. Yours do not. If the light keeps blinking it means that one of the electrical contacts on the cartridge has blown and now the printer doesn't recognize it. Try printing something, you will get a message "problem with color cartridge" or "color cartridge missing". That means that the printer doesn't recognize it. I suggest you buy a new one. Or, if you have an old one, try putting it in and see if the light still blinks.
I changed the cartridge and it now works.I resent this though because it had been merrily printing before it decided it would stop and I have had to waste a three quarters full cartridge!I just hope the new one does not go the same way
There is a small spring that holds the ink cartridge in the ink holder.
You will see it stick out from the right hand side of the ink holder
where the ink cartridge slides in. If that spring isn't being held to
the ink holder by two plastic tabs, (I.E. the plastic tabs are broken)
the printer will never recognize the cartridge. If the printer is still
under warranty I would contact HP or an authorized repair center for
HP. Both the black and color ink holder has this spring. I know of no
way to repair this kind of breakage.
1. On your PC, go to Start, Programs (Windows XP: All Programs), Lexmark series. 2. Select the Solution Center. 3. When the Solution Center appears, click on the Maintenance button. 4. Select the option to Install a new print cartridge. The carrier should slide over at this point and allow you to insert and/or remove cartridges. 5. Make sure the correct cartridges are installed inside the printer first, then inform the software which cartridges have been installed. Note: This applies also to installation of a single cartridge. 6. Print the Print Alignment page to ensure the print quality is satisfactory. 7. Close the Solution Center.
