If you do not have a key you most likely will not be able to re-key the lock. I have done it a couple times however I am a locksmith and have the tools to do it. It took me almost thirty minutes to re-key one cylinder I could have re-keyed a hundred regular cylinders in this amount of time. Then after I did re-key it 2 days later it locked up again. I threw the lock in trash and got a regular kwikset pin tumbler lock which will virtually last forever if everything is adjusted right.
