If you do not have a key you most likely will not be able to re-key the lock. I have done it a couple times however I am a locksmith and have the tools to do it. It took me almost thirty minutes to re-key one cylinder I could have re-keyed a hundred regular cylinders in this amount of time. Then after I did re-key it 2 days later it locked up again. I threw the lock in trash and got a regular kwikset pin tumbler lock which will virtually last forever if everything is adjusted right.

Have cylinder body stuck in cradle can not remove it

If you rotate it back as much as possible toward the start position (the slot with the dot), then insert the tip of a kwikset key and give it a small twist clockwise or counter, it should be able to rotate back to start and you can remove the cylinder. I rekeyed 3 in a row no problem and had the last one jam up. I successfully restarted 3 times, but couldn't get it to complete the rekey.

Kwickset door handle fell apart on my front door help

Kwikset locks are inexpensive because they do not have replaceable parts. Buy a new one.

By the time the lock breaks, it's probably time to get different keys, but if you have so many keys in the hands of people you cannot contact, or you have more than three other locks keyed alike, and you must have the new lock work with the same keys as before, the place where you buy new locks probably has someone who can rekey the new lock to your old keys. Kwikset also sells locks that you can rekey to other Kwikset keys yourself. They are more expensive than other locks of the same type, but could save money long term, especially if you find a need to rekey your locks a lot (lots of visitors, part-time tenants or roommates, your kids lose their keys a lot, etc.)

I have a tenant that rekeyed our smart key lock and now I can not get into the building. I can no longer get in touch with the tenant. How can i rekey the lock without the entry key? My name is Dave...

if you do not have the learned key that works the lock you will need to take the lock to a locksmith that has the reset tool and they can re-learn a new key to the lock.
while at the locksmith shop - have them show you the correct way to re-learn more keys for the future -- and it is very important that you keep a working key for the lock so if the future tenants do not return keys to you, you will be able to re-key to a new key. ( you will need the special tool that fits into the little hole in the cylinder face -- get this tool from the lock shop, they should have plenty ).

I bought 2 kwikset deadbolts. The first one worked out fine. The second one I turn the original key by accident. Now neither key will work.Is there a way to rekey my original key.

put the 'dummy key' that came in with it, turn it a 1/4 turn right, put smart key in, pull out smart key. pull out the key and insert the key that you would have as a desired key and turn left 1/4. thats it!!!!!!

Lost entry door key, need to rekey kwikset deadbolt

Unfortunatley you need to have the key to remove the cylinder. You can take it to a locksmith that can pick" it to remove the cylinder and make you a key but it may be more cost effective to replace it.

Sorry not to be mre help.

Need to have a master key for all locksets

Any locksmith can rekey the locks to a single Master. Some make house calls, but it costs less to take them off and take them if this is feasible.

Lost keys to my Entry door lock

Visit your local Home Depot and purchase a Kwikset re-keying kit. They're inexpensive and work fine but stay alert and follow the instructions properly. This kit comes complete with proper pins as well as new keys. Good Luck!
