HDMI Cable Repair

I pinched my HDMI cable between the wall box and dry wall during installation which kinked the cable. I have not tried to use it yet but when I do I, should I expect problems. If so, how do I fix it? I found a repair kit online to replace the male connection.

Re: HDMI Cable Repair

Depending on how hard the cable was pinched you may or may not have problems HDMI cables are very insolated and it takes alot to damage one. However if there are problems the repair kits that you can buy online are very usefull and you will probably have to cut and replace the pinched part on the inside of the wires but the kits should have step by step instructions if not feel free to contact me for detailed instructions.
Good Luck,

Turn on ps3 i get no picture or sound then i cant turn it off i have to unplug it whats wrong with it?

  • Check your HDMI Cable

HDMI is available in several versions. The PS3 is compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type A" and "Type B" connectors. The PS3 uses the 19-pin Type A connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p.
The HDMI cable is not included with the PS3.

  • Cable adaptors (i.e., HDMI to DVI converters)

If you are using an adaptor (i.e., HDMI to DVI converter), try bypassing this adaptor and connecting the HDMI cable directly into the display.

  • Check the adaptorTry an alternate cable

  • Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation. This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular HDMI setup and/or equipment.

  • Some older HDTVs may have issues with the copy protection protocols (HDCP) causing the handshake not being communicated between the TV and the PS3. Try resetting the TV by turning the TV and PS3 off, then unplug the TV power cord from the outlet and plug it back in. Then turn your TV and PS3 back on and see if the picture appears.

  • Try using a different the HDMI Cable on the PS3.Make sure the HDMI Cable is free of any cuts, frays or other visible damage.
  • Try installing the PS3 to another TV or display (i.e., monitor).
  • Try using the HDMI Cable with a different PS3 system.

When my son plays his PS3 after a while the screen goes blank and the message: check signal cable appears. His PS3 is connected to tv with an HDMi cable and the cable that fits into the AV with the three...

Try these steps:

1. Before resetting cables, make sure PS3 is turned off using the main power switch on the back.
2. Unplug the power cord of the PS3 and TV from the wall socket.
3. Connect HDMI cable to HDMI Out on back of PS3
4. Connect HDMI cable to HDMI Input port of the TV
5. Plug the PS3 and TV back in to the wall socket
6. Turn the main power switch on the back of the PS3 on.
7. While the PS3 in standby mode(red light on) hold down the on/off button on front of system until the system goes into standby mode again. (So the light cycle would go red light-green light-then back to red. This will ensure you held down long enough to reset video output settings.
8. Turn on the PS3 and once the system finishes powering up, the video output settings will automatically reset.

Cant hook it up to my x box pro using hdmi. do i need a adaptor or what?

You have to buy the HDMI cable separately, you can get HD with the HD input cables on the XBox, but to use HDMI you must buy a separate HDMI cable, make sure your XBox has the HDMI input on it as well.

PS3 flashes white snow for only 1-2 sec. during gameplay. Is there a fix?

I also have the same problem. Just bought my PS3 today and have found that it flashes to static for a few milliseconds at any given time. I know it isn't my TV and I also know that there is nothing wrong with the console. I put it down to the HDMI cable - I chose an exceedingly long one that spans 5 meters. Personally, I think that the output voltages from the PS3's HDMI jack are lower than those found on other devices - so I presume that long cables with high resistances (in other words, cables that are fairly long and very cheap) are the cause of signal loss. Try a shorter, higher quality cable. I am going to return the one that I bought and buy a shorter one tommorow.

Rocketfish hdmi no sound

Have you tried another cable? Try this one from Amazon:
For future reference there is no difference between a 70$ hdmi cable and a 5$ one unless you are going through walls or over 25 feet.

PS3 vs Toshiba 65" 65hm117

Sorry to here about your problem. I have a 65HM167 Toshiba tv which is the same as your model, and I have my PS3 connected HDMI with no problems. Try using a different brand HDMI cable and a different HDMI input on the tv if you have not already done so. Hope this does it for you, good luck.
