Re: Documate 252 scanner
I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.
It sounds like your problem is being caused by a reduction in light in the scanner. This would most likely be cause by the power brick, but may also be a failure of the lamps in the scanner. If you have another scanner of the same type, you can interchange them to see if the problem consistently follows the scanner or the power supply.
In either case you should contact us to discuss your replacement options by calling 800-648-0410.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Scan in portrait mode only. Of course this takes more time as compared to Landscape mode. The top module 'reads' left to right as we see it and the botom module 'reads' right to left, if you look from top. So if you scan in landscape mode and rotate, the back side is rotated by another 90 degrees and hence you see it upside down. If you are using PDF file and have Adobe Acrobat, you can specifically rotate odd or even pages.

The flashing green light has the following meaning:
• Blinking green: indicates the scanner is waking up from power saving and preparing to scan. • Steady green: indicates the scanner is ready to scan.
How to Adjust the Power Save Settings for the DocuMate 252 1. Right-click on the One Touch icon and choose Show Hardware from the pop-up menu. You can also click the scanner icon at the top of the One Touch Button Panel. If the Hardware View of the panel is open you can also right- click on the DM252 icon. The Hardware Properties dialog box opens and shows information about your Xerox DocuMate 252 scanner. 2. Click the Properties button. Your scanner has a built-in power saving feature that is set to power down after 15 minutes of idle time. You can change the time before the scanner powers down, from 1 minute to a maximum of 3 hours. 3. Click the arrows for the Lamp timeout setting and choose a time setting. To return the scanner to its factory settings, click Reset Device. 4. Click OK to save the changes and close the dialog box.
Let me know if this solves the problem and thank you, Binary Bob
If it is new, and not assuming there is a hardware problem with the scanner (some fault), might be a software problem. If the scanned image from the flabed is OK the drivers would be installed properly. You do not say which software you are using but when you have a "Professional" documentscanner and intend to use it for "production" scanning you need proper software also, To scan, to mix documents, rearrange pages, auto remove blank pages, deskew, produce small PDFs even when scanning color and so on. Look at PixEdit - it will do the job for you.
This is not the only solution, but this might help.
Put a blank page in as the first page and see if all of your documents scan completely.
You may need to clean the ADF. Try the following:
Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder You may need to clean the ADF feed mechanism if your documents do not feed easily into the ADF, or several feed in at the same time. To clean the ADF: 1. Dampen a soft cloth with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol (95%). 2. Press the ADF cover release on the top left of the scanner body to open the Automatic Document Feeder cover. 3. Wipe the feed roller from side to side. Rotate the roller to clean its entire surface. 4. Wipe the pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to snag the cloth on the springs on either side of the pad. 5. Close the cover when you’re finished. NOTE: Please be careful when cleaning the roller. The roller is designed to rotate in one direction only. As you’re cleaning the roller, make sure it rotates easily, and continue rotating it in that direction while wiping it clean. Do NOT force the roller to rotate in the opposite direction. Forcing the roller to rotate will damage it, and may cause the scanner to feed pages incorrectly.
Please let me know if this has helped and thank you. Binary Bob
