I have the same problem on i think the same tv but mine is much more advanced in the amount of blue. I would guess the hue is 12 inches in on both sides and 4 or 5 up on the bottom. The rest of the screen is covered in little blue pixels like stars at night. Tv was a hand me down from my dad when he got his plasma is it worth fixing?

I have blue hue on the bottom of screen, starting at bottom and going up a few inches. Right now it's in about the middle 60% of the picture. I have a Sony Grand Wega KDF-55WF655.

I have the 55" Sony EGA (2004 model year). Sure enough, I had a very small blue hue show up at the very bottom right of the screen. It was at the very corner, but would get slightly larger when lighter colors were on the screen. I called the number at the website in Solution #2 on Monday morning. They gave me a reference number, and had me call a local, authorized TV repair shop. Wednesday morning they came out and fixed it - no charge. It was the optical block/light engine/whatever. I had the TV 39 months, so I was out of factory warranty plus the extended warranty through Best Buy, but not a penny out of pocket. I must congratulate Sony on trying to make things right - not 50 hours after my initial call, my TV was repaired at no cost to me.

FYI - the repairman did say he's fixed quite a few, though Sony says the problem is only in limited sets.

Call Sony at 888.649.7669 and have all tv info handy. They will fix at no charge but also offered me an upgrade to a new tv. They gave me a choice between 3 tvs ranging between $300 and $523. It may be a different set of tv choices based on your exact model. All I had to do was peel the sticker off the back and mail it in. I'm not sure if you get to keep the old TV or not. I don't know what the repair process is because I chose the upgrade. I just did this today.

I have searched the world over trying to find a new Blue LCD Panel for inside the optical block. I can tell you folks don't waste your time. I found a person that would sell me one but there is a whole list of tools you need to align the image to match the red and green. I have searched for repair on this and it is very hard and all want to do it for around $325.00 for a rebuild. Sony will replace the Optical block for free until December 2008. Hopefully you are reading this before then. I decided to buy the optional replacement KDL-46W4100 for $523.00. Get out of projection QUICK!! lol

I have the 55", 2004 model year Sony WEGA. Sure enough, I started to have a blue hue on the very bottom right corner of the screen. On a black screen, it was just at the very edge, but when lighter colors were on the screen, the hue became a little larger. I used the link in Solution #2 and called the number first-thing on Monday morning. They gave me a reference number and had me call a local TV repair place. Wednesday morning they came out and fixed it. 50 hours after my initial call, the part is replaced and everything is fine. I purchased about 39 months ago, so it was out of factory warranty, as well as the extended warranty from Best Buy, but it was all covered - not a penny out of pocket. It's a pain, but I'm glad Sony is out there trying to make things right.

I just read this and maybe will help you if it is the "blue dots" and these models you may be covered under warranty.

Probably the optics block. It needs to be replaced.

However, it looks like you're in luck. Sony will reimburse you.

Problem with sony 60" rear projection TV

I'm afraid, it is problem of optical block unit (light engine) that produce picture by 3 lcds inbuilt, the blue lcd and its related uv filters become defective and causing this kind of blue hue on screen.
Complete optical unit block (light engine) will be replaced by qualified tech to get tv fixed, light engine is costly part so ask an estimate before sending tv in.

Blue hue accross bottom of screen - Sony KF-50WE610

You can try doing this, turn on the Tv and select the service menu, if that tint also shows on the menu, it's most probable to be your DMD board, but if it doesn't it might be the video board..

A blue semi-circular hue on the bottom left of the screen

9 times out of 10 the Blue Polarizer heats up and discolors which causes that problem, all projector's have the same issue and have for years. My professional recommendation is get in touch with Sony, they have been extending the warranty's for this issue. If they won't the have a servicer replace the light engine of which is not cheap.
