Myself my Lyra had problems...forget the disc that came with the device or any drivers you can get from the net...it seems it fixes one problem but creats other problems....what i found by accident was i pluged my Lyra 1090 into my laptop running windows 7 and a pop up came up saying my divice had problems would you like windows to fix them of course i said yes and now i have no problems at all and my device runs great now without downloading any drivers thanks to windows 7
Connect your MP3 player to the computer with a USB cord. click My Computer you should see RCA Lyra. Next,
go into windows and open up a folder --- any folder will do (you can use one on your desktop if you like) once the folder opens, please click the little arrow around the top of the folder. you should see it say :
Desktop,
My Documents,
My computer
c:\
(and which ever drives you have on your pc) please look for one called:
RCA_LYRA.
once you see that one, please click on it.
then, what you will see in your folder is all of the music you have inside your mp3 player. even those disturbing audio files that they put into our players.
To delete those files, and any mp3 songs, highlight them, and press delete. then press ok and there you are. if you would like to move the songs to your computer, just highlight them and drag them onto your desktop, or another folder, or where ever yopu would like to put them.
once your done, just unplug and there you go (oh! you can also add files to your player this way. just add them into the folder with your mp3 pluged in).
altight, hope that helps. i hope you all have a nice day and take care. cheers..."

i appreciate the time you took to answer but unfortunately i already tried that. the weird thing is that it deletes the songs from showing up on "RCA_LYRA" when i click on it but when i go right click on "RCA_LYRA" to get see its properties, the used internal memory is still the same. and likewise, when i unplug the player from my computer and turn it on, the songs that i deleted still show up and play. the only way i have found to actually delete songs from this mp3 player is to format it, but since that deletes everything, i have to go back and reinstall the original software back on it.
