Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite P105. The DVD drive on it, says it is a DVD-RAM. In properties it read as a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N. I bought this being told this drive supports Dual-Layer burning. Now is this true, or no? I really have never even heard of DVD-RAM before and after reading about, I understand it cant write DVD+R OR DVD-R . Can someone please tell me, if this drive can burn those and can it burn DVD-DL too? Thanks so much!

- Thanks that helped clear up some things, but still that doesn't say yes or no exactly on DVD Dual Layer, by that info I am assuming it can not, or can it? That is what is puzzling me in trying to use them.Best Solution

- No, I'm afraid if it would specify it in the specifications, I found no entries for DL support. They are not that expensive anymore by the way, I picked a cd/dvd combo with DL support and 22 X write speeds on dvd for 24 bucks on Ebay, simply remove the bezel on your present drive, there are three to four releases and the bezel comes off. Put the bezel on the new drive, the only other thing that has to be changed is the rear mounting tab, there are just two screws that hold that tab on. As long as the "interface" on the back of the drive is the same, any drive will operate. It is either IDE or Sata.Oct 14, 2009
- I really don't shop using a model name, I really didn''t pay any attention to it. I just did a search on Ebay for a dvd drive with dual layer support and the type of interface my laptop has and that was it. Let me check my Gateway P-7811 FX and I'll tell ya what I have in it, because it also support lightscribe.My model drive is an Optiarc
