Question about Belkin ( F6C500-UNV) (Bundle) (f6c500-unv bundle) UPS System

1 Answer

My model FC6120-unv is dead

I can't get any lights at all. Doesn't pass current through. Is this a sign that the batteries have to be replaced?

Thanks a bunch. I'll rummage around and see if I can find the original invoice. Doubt that anyone bothered to register it with Belkin.

    • I have a Belkin f6c500-unv ups system that went dead. We had dim lights one evening for two hours then the next evening was the first time I tried to turn on the computer and it wouldn't start. I plugged the computer into the wall and everything went back to normal. Does this mean I have a bad battery? When it was on low power the computer wasn't on the ups wasn't beepeing like it usually does.

If you've got nothing my guess is its something more than the battery as it should still be able to draw power if its plugged in. If its within the warranty period (3 yrs, I believe). Go to the belkin webpage and to their ups support and start the process to return it and get it fixed/replaced. A couple months ago I had a F6C500-UNV that suddenly died on me just like yours - no nothing. It cost me $13.00 or so bucks to ship the broken unit to Belkin; a week or two later I got a brand spankin' new F6C550 or whatever they currently sell in that same voltage area back from them. The cost to RMA the broken unit was much cheaper than even buying a new battery for the old and now discontinued unit.

FYI... when I RMA'd my Belkin F6C500-UNV I was never (as far as I can remember) prompted to provide any proof of when or where I bought it. Just filled out the online RMA request form, printed out the RMA document/shipping label and sent the unit in. It was pretty painless and simple and although I was never asked I did have a copy of my receipt and I was within their 3-year warranty period in case it came up. Not sure if I ever registered the UPS with them or not. Good luck.

BELKIN UPS DOES NOT WORK

If the device is over a few years old, then the batteries are probably dead. If so, they can be replaced. Below link shows some photos of the device once opened.

How long do batteries last

If they cannot hold the charge or do not charge then get rid of the thing and get a new one. Should be much cheaper than when you bought the one you have now.

Sounds like the starter battery can't hold the charge from the alternator. A 1 hour highway drive should charge the battery enough - if it's the same the next morning it's up for replacement. Assuming there are no lights, radio or other devices on in the car during the night.

If the battery has been recently replaced - the alternator might not supply enough current anymore. In this case alternator brushes might need replacement or the voltage regulator has died. Usually the battery indicator lights up in this case. The battery indicator light can be checked by turning the ignition key one notch so all lights in the dash light up. If the battery indicator doesn't light the lightbulb might be dead.

What doies it mean if the unit turns itself off, resulting in a loss of power to my electronics?

Most likely your battery is dead in the UPS. Replace the battery if you can. Belkin should be able to help you with that.

I recently purchased a used Belkin F6C800-UNV UPS, and discovered it had bad batteries. I replaced both batteries, and charged the replacement batteries overnight. The UPS appears to be working correctly,...

This is normal in some lower end UPS's, the voltage can swing quite a bit, a drop of 40 seems like quite a bit but it's out of the question. It will also adapt to what is plugged in yes. Ultimately to test you would want to try it with something like an actual PC plugged in and make sure it stays running. I'd say otherwise it sounds normal to me.
