Can I use Canon Pixma CLI-8C ink in a Canon MX860 printer? I have been given some free inks and don't know if I can use them in my particular model, will anything bad happen if I do?

I've installed the driver for my Canon Pixma MX860 on two computers with no problems (one PC and one MacBook). Upon loading the driver onto the third, I'm getting an "error 300" message (cannot find printer). Interestingly, it WILL print a test page from the utility but will not print pics, text, etc/ Any clues? BTW... using it wirelessly over my LAN. Thanks

I purchased a Canon MX860 12/08/09 still unpacked, spent hours reading horror stories about connecting to Mac OS X 10.6.2 which I have installed. I will set up using USB only. There are conflicting reports on best method and if there still is a compatibility issue with Mac OS and the driver(s) to be used. And where the driver(s) should come from... the Canon disk, on line via - Apple Software Update, or Canon's site or should I just bite the bullet and return the printer? I have had two other Canon printers and would like to keep this one if it possible but I don't want to be forever getting it to work! Never used Facebook.

When printing from MS Excel 2003, I keep getting a box prompting for a ''print to file'' location. Nothing is set to print to a file, yet this box won't go away. I am printing from a wireless laptop to the printer via a network. The printer is connected by USB to a desktop on the network. All my other printing app's work fine, including MS Word 2003.
