My tv has a black square on the screen.

With the original remote go into the customer menu--look for closed captions---I think you will find that TEXT 1 has been selected---it was a feature that allowed for written things like books to be transmitted and never was really used much--it should only appear on certain channels---select either off or something other than TEXT 1---

It most likely got entered by accident--check it out---also if you are using a cable or sat box--most of them have the same option---if it is not selected in the TV sets own mode--you need to go into the menu for the box if you are using one and turn it off--if this is the case check with your cable or sat provider and they can tell you how to correct this if the box is the reason.
