Want to get more speed out o my fiberoptic broadand

I have Virgin Media fiberoptic broadband @ 20mbps, however the wifi router they supplied seems to slow the internet access speed down considerably. Can anyone suggest a decent "plug and play" wifi router (or an integrated modem/router) that can support higher speeds and have an increased range?

Well the best router for your connection type would be WNR2000. Even Virgin media recommend this router for their 20 and 50 Meg connection. I am pretty confident that this router will meet your requirement with this ISP connection.

Hope this helps.

Well this is a Router.. and please note that you can not use modem/router with your ISP connetion. You have to use cable router for your setup.

    Hope this helps.

your router could have been damaged. wifi comes from that, not the cable. If you have internet then cable is working, get replacement router from Virgin.

I am a very untechnical person and I bought a wireless G Router thinking I could connect it very simply and make my wired broadband wireless. Unfortunately the modem I have, which was sent to me by Virgin...

I'm thinking you have the ADSL modem supplied by Virgin with only the telephone line port and an USB port on the back that goes to the computer.

In the case above. You need to buy a wireless router with a USB port connection. Or something like a Linksys WAG54G which is an ADSL and wireless router all-in-one.
