This is extreme, but my Dash phone is alive again. After pushing the
power button HARD! for an hour, I broke the button, and pushed it
inside the phone. I ripped the button out of the phone with a knife,
and carved away the plastic so I could see the circuit board inside.
(about a 1/4" x 1/4" hole). Looking in, there are 2 empty holes in the
middle -the former mounting legs for the button. To the left are 2
leads (solder points), to the right there are 3 solder points. Using a
screwdriver, I jumped (made a connection) with the 2 leads closest to
the edge of the phone...ie: 1st solder joint to the left of the holes,
and 1st solder joint to the right of the holes, and it powered up. I
will cover the hole with black electrical tape. I build prototypes for
architects for a living, so this is a successful solution.

I tried using a the google mail java app on my tmobile dash. It froze up on me, and when i turned it back on it just stays at the "tmobile" splash screen. I have tried using the soft key and power button reset but it doesnt work. What's weird is that it wont power down unless I take the battery out. It powers on, shows the tmobile splash screen, then freezes. Is there any other way to reset it or is it totally bricked? I bought it new off craiglslist so tmobile wont replace it for me cause I'm using it unlocked on cingular.
Ok bro I know I am a bit too late to help you with this problem but someone else may benefit from these directions. I see most places online only have half advice about this very common problem with T-mobile Dash.
This is what you need to do, you have to do a hard reset exactly like "reviel" mention. Also like he said timing is essential but the trick is that you need to show some patience through the process.
Note: Please read the directions completely before doing anything for better results.
Step 1: Take your battery out and shut off your phone Step 2: Press and hold the two soft key buttons. Step 3: Press and hold the power button for exact two seconds, 1001, 1002 and release, but continue to hold the two soft key buttons. Step 4: Within seconds a black screen with some text will come up asking you to confirm if you wanna delete everything; and right then you let go of your soft key buttons and press the green call button (also known as the "send key"). Step 5: You are done but not really, your job now is to find something else to do and leave your phone alone for at least 2 minutes. Eventually if you don't have a SIM in it, it will prompt you for it and you click the soft key to choose "OK"; also, it will ask you to confirm to restart and you click the soft key to chose "Done" for it.
Wait a minute for it boot up and overall it should do it.

I have had the same issue twice now, both times I was able to buy replacement buttons on e bay for about 10 dollars, however there is no instructions, and I think it was my fault it broke the second time because they are so delicate and difficult to replace without breaking a clip. However they are cheap and easy to find on e bay if you wanna chance the repair yourself!!
oops......sounds like the glue failed. take it into a store, show them the glue failed and that it would be a manufactuers deftect.....depending on the rep that will help you in the store or over the phone depends on wheather or not they do an exchange.....the thing is, this is tricky......the reason why tmobile will not help, is because the phone is in more then one peice, so in that case technically it voids the warrenty....
my friends bf had the same problem, and he was able to get an exchange out of it....so again. it depends on whom you speak with.....
