Question about Pioneer PureVision PDP-5030HD 50 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
This may help you Greger, I found this on another site and I assume your model is simular to the 503 HDE... Good Luck - Rob...
I had exactly the same problem with my 503HDE. Screen would randomly shutdown and display E01.
In my case I believe that the cable was not at fault. The power supply in the media box looks like the most likely culprit.
I dismantled the media box and removed the LARGE power supply board and checked for dry solder joints. Sure enough, where the heatsink was soldered onto the board the joints were in a bad way. I reckon this is a symptom of the fact that the media boxes for V3 Pio's get very hot - all that expanding and contracting is likely to create dry solder joints. Taking the box apart shouldn't be a problem for anyone with a reasonable level of IT type skills!
I resoldered the joints and (touch wood) I've not had a problem for over 2 months. Whilst I can't guarantee that this is the definitive fix for this problem it seems to have worked for me. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else finds this cures the E01 problem.
Not being a hardware engineer, my only doubt is why the heatsink is connected electrically to the circuit board. Would this be for earthing purposes or perhaps to do with temperature sensing? Not sure about that -
Hope this helps someone - six grand is a lot of dosh to write off!!

My PDP-5030 has had a similar problem. Sometimes it gives an EO1 error message and shuts down, other times it just shuts down and sometimes it just goes to a gray screen. When it shuts down the green light on the front blinks about 5 times. Luckily it's still under warranty, but the service company is now replacing the same parts it has already replaced. This is their fourth attempt to repair it -- they've replaced the cables, processor and a circuit board. The problem started in March of 2007 and they had the TV as much as we have in 07. I agreed to give them one last chance to repair it. Hopefully they'll fix it this time.
