Question about ASUS GeForce FX 5200, (128 MB) Graphic Card

1 Answer

Nothing works anymore :)

I had no problems before except for slow performance.

Now when i go into a game (any game with 3D graffics) I see several fields of different colors at best. Like half screen is green half is grey. Or a black screen at all.

I did all the regular stuff. Downloaded updates, newest driver. Didnt help.

I also did dxdiag - the direct draw works, the direct 3D does not. And it did before. For example in the first test i see a green cube spinning instead of a cube with DirectX logo on it.

would be very thankful if you can help me with this...

Merry Xmas and happy NY!

Slow performance could be over heat trouble. Do a good cleaning. More information about your Mb would help. BIOS version, name of MB type of memory & how many DIMMS.
Install directX 9.0c, it may help:

How can i Run "Splinter Cell Chaos Theory" with Shader Model 1.3 ?

Unfortunately, you can't. The SiS M760GX is not a suited graphics cards for that game / 'hardcore' 3D gaming. It's way too slow to get decent performance to start with (no cure for that except upgrading) and secondly the driver software is not fully compatible, it simply doesn't implement all the required features properly, nor is or will it be updated to do so by SiS. (Even) older games might still work properly, but the newer/more sophisticated games won't.

For 3D gaming an ATI/AMD or NVidia graphics card is strongly recommended. Their drivers are way better, they hold the majority of the market and hence most games will work flawlessly on them. Performance still depends on the graphics card chosen and on the speed of the rest of your system (CPU speed, amount of RAM, etc.).

Since the M760GX is a mobile videocard, you probably have a laptop; and most (especially older) laptops can't have their videocard 'upgraded'. And in case you can, it's mostly way too (difficult and) expensive to buy one, even second-handed. You'll end up spending around $100-200 and even when it works, you'll probably hardly notice any real improvement. Besides the chance that the better performing cards run too hot during gaming, as your laptop wasn't designed to handle the more powerful card in the first place.

PS: Some of the latest laptops have (relatively) good 2D performing videocards by Intel (HD4x00 and newer), but these are still not aimed at/optimized for 3D gaming. They might be able to run the older games (like the game you mention) decently though ...

I have bought an Onetab XST2 tablet from Germany and every game I have downloaded works really slow, i asked a few peoples I know what can I do and they told me that I need to buy a better micro SD card so...

Hi! i just bought the same tablet, and sorry to inform you, there is not much to do...the tablets graphic chip does not like 3D games... only 2D, some will work, some not, i am mostly using it to read PDF-files so it does not bother me. So if you want to play the real "cool" games you have to spend more money, and buy a more powerful tablet! otherwise it is good! - Levi

GEFORCE FX 5500 video quality low, slow motion videos and games

well if your trying to game on a pc the 5500 isnt quite sufficient. If you dont know about nvidia you are about 5 generations back of days cards. So the card wont handle any of todays games. If your really trying to game i suggest you build/buy a new rig. But as far as playing videos, quality should be good. Try goin to nvidia.com and downloading the newest drivers.

Problems running Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3: TotW

hi I just fixed this problem on my computer. Here is how I did it. I have an NVIDIA video card and I right clicked on my desktop, went to NVIDIA control panel. Under 3D Settings, I clicked on "adjust image settings with preview". Under that setting my original setting was "let the 3D application decide". I selected the 3rd option "Use my preferences emphasizing: (Performance/Balanced/Quality)" Originally it was set to "Quality". I moved it to Performance and tried the game and IT WORKED!!!!!!! I am so happy! Also for me the "Balanced" option brings back the white screen.
Hope this works for every one who reads this.

Graphic problem

Too many things are running in the background. Before you start your game, load the Task Manager. Under processes turn off your virus protection, other programs like Sype, Logmein, Adobe, Itunes, Picassa, Google, etc. Then try your game.

About graphic card

most top-end cards will work with your computer and boost performance a bit but... your CPU and the (these days) very low amount of RAM (for e.g. this little laptop I'm using has 3 GIG of ram) would NOT enable you to play the (latest) games... if you got them to run at all they would be mind-numbingly slow.

Biggest performance boost you could give your computer and help towards playing latest games would be more RAM.. as much as you can fit in. More RAM is the best upgrade you can give a computer

GAMING PROBLEMS

The problem is that this laptop, like most laptops, does not have a graphics chip capable of handling new 3D games. Sorry but there's nothing you can do about that except try running the games in the lowest graphics settings possible.
