Hi thanks for the question this problem can be a lid switch also if the lid switch is bad , it wont send powerdown to the wig wag solenoid . the spin solenoid is mounted on top of transmission , when plunger on solenoid is activated it drops the clutch and spins , if the solenoid is bad then it wont activate the solenoid , to test to see if you have a bad solenoid disconnect power , on the solenoid you see 4 wires just the red on the left and yellow on right reverse these 2 wires plug in washer . select spin .activate washer if the washer starts to wash on spin the solenoid is ok then i would change the lid switch thanks fr the question THE APPLIANCE DOC

There is indeed a drive belt to the imperial 70. Problem more likely is in the 'wig-wag' unit that engages and disengages the spin clutch and the agitator drive

There is no belt. This is a direct drive unit. There is a motor coupler located between the motor and the transmission.

Why won't my Maytag washer A48t drain? Replaced belts when it also wouldn't spin. Now it spins, but does not drain.

If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed. Also check drain hose.

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2 Imperial Series washer that doesnt spin out very well. It will sometimes spin out but leaves the clothes very damp. Sometimes the washer will try to spin itself out but ...

First thought is that the cycles are off.we have the same problem with ours right now. That slow spin speed concerns me. The motor could be going bad. If this washer is 10-12 years old, you may want to look at replacing it. Does the machine ever start agitating before it finishes filling. If so, the cycle mechanism is going bad. This has a whole host of potential problems. Ave a rep look at it. He can narrow it down quickly.

Won't spin out clothes after replacing belt

The clothes are wet after spinning When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

Kenmore 70 series washer will not spin, clothes are too wet

Not a belt, this is only a sound deadening devise on the brake housing. Not really needed. Replace the coupler
