Re: Paper feeding the original.

A number of solutions. Open the transmit cover and examine the paper path for obstructions, "white out" and alignment of the rollers. The exit roller is the last roller and is prone to become misaligned due to the attachment points on the lower transmit tray being actually broken. I have even seen this on so called "B" stock or warranty repaired machines right out of the box. It happens when a sheet of paper gets stopped and someone pulls it out instead of opening the transmit cover to do it. Also, sometimes the transmit cover doesn't close properly. In this case make sure it does close by using 2 hands to do it.

Errors with my Printer/scaner

This could be one of a few things... First, Windows 8 is a completely different animal from Windows XP! Try reloading your printer driver in Windows 8. If this doesn\'t work, you need to clean the paper pickup rollers at the front of the printer (where the paper first feeds into the machine. I use a Q-tip moistened (not sopping wet) with rubbing alcohol... gently scrub the whole pickup roller and then the feed roller next to it. Check carefully (with a flashlight) for any shards of paper that might be blocking the paper path. There is also a sensor flag (small finger of plastic) sticking up that the paper must hit to let the printer know that the paper is feeding through. If you do not see the sensor flag, it is either jammed or has been broken off when a piece of paper was pulled backward out of the paper feed area. First reload the printer driver, and try to print. If it doesn\'t print, check and clean the rollers and look for the sensor flag.

Paper won't feed evenly

What I understand on this problem, it can be dirty feed wheels on one end.
It might be a paper tray that is bent more on one side, or hanging up on one side.
If it is a large roll that feeds paper, it is uneven presure on the paper causing the paer to go skewed.
If the paper is traveling up in the machine, the rollers in the back maybe the problem or the side door not closed all the way, causing some rollers to drive the papers and other rollers not touching the paper at all.

Fax machine is not pulling paper for printing.

Atypically this indicates one of three problems.
  1. the nip rollers have become oily and traction for the paper to feed does not exist
  2. the nip rollers on the paper feed spindles are worn and are not grabbing the paper.
  3. the gear teeth in the sprocket of the feed spindle are damaged (broken)
In case one some manufactures provide utility kits with paper that has a rough surface to which you can condition the rollers (kinda like a sand paper)

In case two and three (above) these items will need to be replaced. This is not a job for a novice and given the return on investment ... you may be better off buying a new machine.

Document jam

I had this totally annoying problem this morning. After looking for any obvious paper jams or small bits of loose paper, I tried several fixes: 1) open front cover, release levers that hold white rollbar in place, roll the bar forward to make sure nothing is stuck behind it, snap levers back in place; DID NOT fix the problem; 2) open top cover, remove print cartridge, look for jammed paper bits, close cover; DID NOT fix the problem; 3) unplug the machine, wait a few minutes, turn machine back on; DID NOT fix the problem. I even unplugged the machine, opened ALL the covers, turned the machine upside down and shake it to see if any paper clips, staples, or other objects have fallen inside the machine; DID NOT fix the problem. FINALLY, I pulled the paper feed tray forward, reached down to the feed rollers, twisted them a few turns, put paper back in the machine, and the "paper jam" message disappeared! This may not work for everyone, but it worked for me today, so I hope this helps someone out there to have a better day.

Machine not feeding paper through

try cleaning the rubber rollers with a damp cloth and make sure there clean. also check to see if the paper is making contact with paper.
if that fails check the leading edge of the paper for damage incase something maybe blocking paper.

Paper jams when trying to send fax (original goes in short way then jams) unit has had little use it establishes connection and then stops and jams when commencing scan

look in paper path(scanner compartment were paper feeds) to ensure there is no pieces of small paper or foriegn items in this area preventing paper from going all the way through if this fails clean the feed roller in document scan area with a micrfiber cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol

Feeds two sheets on top of each other through feeder when transmitting.

The problem is not the sensor, itis the rollers that feed and seperate the paper.
the sensor only tells it there is paper, in the machine. then there is a tire that feeds the paper and another that stops the others from feeding at the same time. If the tire ( on some models it's a pad that looks like it has a rubber or a cork.) is old it looses it's grip and let's the paper slip by. Try cleaning with alcohol, must be replaced eventually.

Outgoing fax does not feed automatically

I don't know any specific info related to the panasonic fax, but here is some "general" information that is usually universal. The fact that the paper feeds "with some help" indicates that everything is working... just not as well as it should. Very often, a problem like yours can be rectified by simply cleaning the original take-up/in rollers with some alchohol (I usually use 90%+ rubbing alchohol as it evaporates quickly and leaves little, if any, residue) on a rag. Also, there is usually some sort of "pressure pad/roller" (sometimes called a retard pad/roller") on these types of machines that work in conjunction with the primary original paper take-up roller. It can be either dirty or worn as well. This should also be cleaned. If it's a pad type system, often it just clicks/clips into place, and can be removed, the rubber pad itself flipped over in the retainer, re-installed, and the "un-worn" side then faces the paper offering better pressure for feed, and preventing multiple page feed. Hope this helps.
