Question about HP OfficeJet D135 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Color prints too dark

All color prints now print darker than they ever have in the past.
Is there a calibration on the hp software for the printer to change?
All other printing, letters, documents, etc, that are mostly black print just fine.

This darker colors on photo printing has been going on for many months.

The ink cartridges have been replaced several times during those months and the prints still come out darker than they should.

I never have done a refill on any cartridges. I buy original hp 14s or new compatible cartridges, they all print the same, too dark for the photos.

1. Took out the color ink cart and clean the copper contacts of the ink cart with cotton swab, make sure that you do not touch the silver nozzle .
2. Try new ink color ink carts as someime this issue came up when the ink carts are about to finish up.
3. Replace the ink carts and do not us a refill ink.

Considering the situation there are 2 more solutions:

    1. Take out the ink carts and clean the copper contacts in the printer ink cart slot.

    2. Make sure that the printer is not connected with surge protector, if it is, then connect it directly to the wall outlet. Insert the ink carts and then print the test page.

If still the issue persists then itb is confirmed that the color ink cart clot in the printer is corrupted and the printer need to be replaced.

Unfortunately you screen (computer or other ) isn't calibrated.
there is software mostly pro use this, but take a picture of a flat grey placard.
using your photo program to check the gamma settings and modify them until the grey on screen matches placard ( hold placard next to monitor). Then print out grey image.
important write down the gamma settings and when you put something to print check to see if these are close.

It could be a paper issue. Make sure the paper you are printing on is the type paper you told the printer you installed in the paper type setting (Plain Paper, Bright White Injket Paper, etc.)

Even though both the color & b/w cartridge are new my print job is very light

You can try setting that darkness in your menu for set up printing. That will make it darker. If this just happened after changing the ink clean the jets before setting the darkness.

Calibration of monitor

Here's the tip I used years ago on CRT's suffering this same fate.

Take one of your printed photo's and hold it next to the screen (with the same photo on it running in whatever software you want to print from)
Now using the monitors controls, make the monitor look like your photo that you have printed.
Nice and dark now like the photo, good =)
Now adjust the software to what you want it to look like when printed.
Looking good so far..ok
Save those settings in the program. then re adjust the monitor back to how you want it to look normally (as it was before basically)

Not the ideal soloution, but it works and it's free.

HP Color Laserjet 3500 Problem

If you are sure the diagnostics show the colours correctly, one thing I would look at is to see if it had a colour profile set up for it.Don't know whether this printer normally has, if it has not I would suggest reinstalling the driver. To check - Start/Printers & Faxes/ Rt click on printer then properties, look under Colour management tab. Pete
