PLEF398AC-SS WE HAVE THE FRIGIDAIRE MODEL STATED ABOVE. WE HAVE HAD A GE TECH COME OUT 4 TO 5 DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. AND THE PRIOR YEAR AT LEAST 2 TIMES. WE KEEP GETTING AN ERROR WHEN WE TRY TO PUT THE BURNERS ON, THERE IS A BEEPING SOUND AND A F6 ERROR DISPLAYED. SEVERAL PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. I am sorry I did not mean to rate this question. The tech still has not come to fix the problem he will be here this week. I don't want it to be a problem solver unless we know for sure.

    thank you

Jrig, F6 is a loss of communication between the main board and power board. You might want to have the tech replace the harness between the 2. I don't know what he changed out already but when the top won't work, have him check to see if there is power at the main board P4 harness. That's a 3 pin harness the far right pin 3 being the ground. Other than that, have him check the terminal block where the cord connects to the range. Make sure all the terminals are tight and locked down. Catriver.

Hi and thanks for using fixya!

This could be any one of 3 problems on this french door GE refrigerator. So lets trouble shoot.

First let me say the most common problem (95% of the time) on this model refrigerator and other GE models like this one is caused by the main control board pt # WR55X10956. I'll leave a link below where you can purchase parts.

1st, (unplug unit) , pull the freezer door out and look on the back wall. (all cold air in fridge comes from the freezer behind the back wall.) Is there a snowy frosty ice build up on the back wall? If so, you have a defrost problem. In this case, remove the freezer drawers, take all food out and remove the back wall (usually 1/4 inch nut driver needed). Also look where the evaporator fan is (vents in middle-top) and you'll see a picture of flat-head screw driver. You'll need to insert screwdriver where it tells you to and pry off vent. Once you have back wall off you'll need to defrost any ice you see. After that you will notice a glass heating element at bottom with one wire connected on both sides. unplug those wires and test element for continuity. Around 0 is good. If you don't have continuity then the heating element is bad. pt# WR51X10094 Link to parts site below. Next, test the thermostat, round-cylinder thing, width of a quarter attached to the evaporator coils (usually at top right and has two wires connected to it, one yellow, one orange). You test this just like the heating element. No continuity means it's bad. pt# WR50X10069. If both test good (and most of the time they do) then you'll need to replace the control board listed above.

Here is link where you can purchase parts listed above. They have good shipping and good return policy.

Not sure if the compressor is running. If not, you'll need a repair man. Since fans are running, most likely the thermistor. Also, if you haven't unplug from the wall, wait 10 seconds then plug back in; this may reset the control board. The link below may help. GE Refrigerator Not Cold Enough

Door lock mechanism replacement

1) Will follow with reason to get hold of company or person who did prior repair.
2) Not familiar with this one.
3) When people more specific then help is a lot easier.
3a) That being said; Hopefully that you have a fix it warranty.
Large home appliances can pay off.
4) My problem was with a Whirlpool top loader. (The newer type with the 4" high impeller.) Machine made noises and had an error code which couldn't be reset. (Powered machine off/on a coupe of times.) Plus the clothes were always soaked and needed to be hand wrung to dry. Couldn't see why as the lid latch prevented opening to watch progress of cycle. (Development of the newer technology.) Had purchased the washer at Lowes. (And for once the extra warranty. A friend's suggestion.) 14 mos. after new the problem occurred. Called Lowes. A repairman came out and being as he had had repetitive faults he went under the machine and tightened the motor's hub nut which was lock washered. 5 days later the problem re-occurred. Called Lowes. They sent a different repair tech next day. This one did the same repair but added a substance (Loc Tite) before he tightened the nut. Loc Tite goes on as a paste or gel then semi hardens to form a lock washer effect by preventing the nut from backing off. That on top of using a new nut and lockwasher. Repair was done a year ago and is still good.
5) See #1. Call the repair company or tech. Hopefully your repair is less than a year old. Not all repairs or techs are equal!

I replaced the water filter for my GE GSH25JSTA SS side by side fridge and now the unit is no longer dispensing water

I have had the same problem with the same model several times in the past. It also happens to me within a few days of replacing the water filter.

In my case, I believe the water line in the freezer door has become frozen. I usually let the freezer thaw for a couple of hours, and my water works again.

I have had constant problems with this model. I would recommend trying to sell your fridge now while it's still running, before the real headaches begin (mine has died 2x in the past six months, and I have not even had it for 2.5 years yet). No more GE's in my house.

My oven won't come up to full temp - but broiler/clock work fine.

you either need a temperature probe or a board if the element is heating. If you have an electric meter ohm out the temperature probe. it should be a long skinny piece of metal coming out of the top left or top right corner of the oven cavity. if you ohm it it should read about 1250 ohms.. on your meter that would be the horseshoe looking thing. if it ohms out correctly then it may be your board.
