Re: universal remote

Not all universal remotes will work properly with all the devices. Universal remotes are very limited in what they can or cannot do with the devices on their list.

Universal remotes are only good for basic functions. When buying a universal remote there is a gamble on its performance, unless you know for sure what to expect.

I have an Orion tv model TV2710 and I had to get an universal remote and it works with butI hooked a DVD player to it and I push input on the universal remote and it does nothing What do I need to do

The universal remote needs to be set up for each device that it can control. If there are multiple devices like TV DVD and SAT (satellite), then you need to use your owner manual to program the remote control to be able to operate the other devices. Make sure you have a note of the code you used for your TV. If you follow the instructions for programming correctly, the TV settings will be kept. Make a note of the codes you use for each of your devices. It makes it much easier to reprogram it if the batteries run out and it 'forgets' the codes.

Perhaps your dvd player output is set for channel 3 so you have to select that channel for the dvd player to play on your tv. Some older analog tvs have a separate input for dvd on the back or front. In that case you have to select that setting from the tv menu

I need to get a universal remote for the Disney VCR/DVD Combo Player, any recommendations?

Yes, do not bother with a Universal----at best it may turn set on/off and work volume but it will be missing many key features needed.

"Universal" remotes are hardly universal in this sense.

Best suggestions would be to GOOGLE the model number of the set with "original remote"----not a universal.

If you have the original but it does not work most repair shops for a tiny fee (we charge 5-10 if fixable) can deal with the repair.

If lost try to find an original unless you want VERY BASIC functions and you are gambling that the universal will even program for this unit.

No remote, no manual. Cannot set up DVD player to

Do a search on Google for the manual.  Go to the box stores and buy you a cheap universal remote for about $10-25 and program the thing to work the TV.

RCA F25645 25in TV.

I have this same TV. The DVD player is either hooked up to the video or s-video input. Go to the Menu (either through the remote or from the front of the TV) and select the Setup option. Go to the part where it asks if you want to use a DVD player. Select yes. Then select Video Input. Exit the Setup. When you hit the DVD button, it will switch to the Video input. The second step is to go into the Menu and select Channel, then go to Video Input Source. From there, select which input you are using for your DVD player, the S-Video or the standard Video (yellow composite cable).

The input button

On some sets you can use the menu button to enter the menu and navigate to the page which shows what input is currently selected and change it there. If your set does not have that option, then you will need the remote to do it. I have found that on some universal remotes, the TV/VCR button switches the inputs on the TV when the remote is in the TV mode. If that button does not work on your remote for your set, and you have tried all possible codes for JVC TVs, then the only way to switch inputs is to invest a few dollars more and get an original remote from JVC or have the set repaired so that the input button on the TV functions again.
