I've got a 5 year old Sony Wega that has several, round pink blotches on the screen. Any idea what the problem is and if it might be worth fixing, or does it make more sense to just replace the unit. Thanks

i had the same thing and I called sears they charged $99 to come out and gave free estimate. cost me $300 to fix it but thats better than buying a new one. works great now better picture than before

if the blotches appear as a cloud, i would say yes its the optical block the heart of the LCD, we had ours replaced twice (defective) under warranty.

Most likely the green electron-gun in the CRT is failing.

take your tv with a good technision uhave porblem in your ckt there is one resistor has been damged so this porblem occers

Sorry to hear about your TV breaking, you can try taking it to a service shop to see if it can be repaired, generally a repair will cost less then a new tv, but may not be an option. Good Luck

The light flashing 5 times is normal at turn on as the set is monitoring current drain on the pictures tube cathodes. Any speakers near the set that have un-shielded magnets could possibly cause color issues.

I would recoment you take this to a service center. From you short description I suspect the optical assy is bad, if you are lucky it could just be dust. The optical assy. is the most expensive part in the tv. good luck.
