Question about Toshiba SD-5000
I purchased this player about a month ago... Great picture and all. But approximatly of the 90% movies I've played on it froze on track 13, 14, or 15. And none of the tracks after this point will play. At first I thought it might be the DVD's (rentals), but after having the same thing happen with a brand new DVD right out of the package I seriously suspect a problem with the player. Any ideas/solutions/suggestions?

the unit i purchased ran great for about 2 months then the video started to freeze. power cycled solved the problem initially, but when power cycling did not cure the problem, i started shaking and tapping the unit. at a point of throwing the unit away - took the cover off to see what's inside. with the cover off, it ran just fine . put the cover back, ran ok for a while then started freezing video again.
twisting the unit appears to make it function..
my solution that appears to work for my unit. .
loosen only the two back screws holding the plastic drive mechanism down to the bottom plate (chassis) assumption is that the metal chassis was twisting the drive mechanism and offsetting the photo pickup.
this has worked for the past 2 weeks without a problem.
