In my experience you do not scan from the printer to the Mac, rather you perform scan jobs from the Mac:
you open the 'printers & scanners' on the Mac, select your printer and then on the right side of the window, click on the "scan" tab, then click on 'open scanner' and proceed.
From there you will have options (I don't have a Lexmark) for scanning, saving depending on the features of your scanner.
If you do not have the scan option, you may need to update your driver/package on your iMac.
You need to go into the options and configure the email settings.
You need the server details to send an email with so most likely what happened is whatever settings it had are no longer valid.
Use your own email like gmail or live mail and get the server setting from one of those websites. The printer/scanner will likely support sending via POP mail or SMTP. Your email provider will have the instructions for this.
If you have a hard time navigating the menu system on the printer, just download the manual. It's a Panasonic yea? So it should be easy to grap the manual.
Below options you can try : 1. Repair your email client (uninstall and reinstall an updated one) 2. Check file size. Break the size into small parts 3. Check the file name. Make it small if it is very long. 4. Virus Scan 5. Use gmail from another computer.
while scanning try reducing the DPI of the scans. this will make the image smaller in size but it will effect the picture quality very little. but do keep in mind that the dpi must be atleast 70 for better picturization
scan to email can only be setup to work on a internal email server if the email server is external it will not work. also make sure you input the admin email address and the from email address when configuing the machine
What error code are you getting? Try to scan again and let it fail. Press system monitor, scan, log. Look for jobs with Result of NG. Highlight one and press details. At the top, look for Result: NG (####). It will display an error number there. What is that error number?
751 cannot connect to server 7xx cannot connect ... 8xx could connect, but error... 801 bad user/pw or firewall 802 user/permissions 899 unknown if successful, may be normal
Check additional functions, system settings, network settings, email/ifax settings. Check SMTP server IP and authentication / encryption.
Ignore POP or recieve options as they are for IFAX.
You can try the following reset - it will most of the settings back to the default options. Unplug power cord to the machine. Press and hold down Menu. Plug power cord back in. Let go if menu when fax/scan/copy flash. You may see either "maintenance" or "machine error xx" on the screen. Type stop/exit, 9, 1. The machine should show "param init" or similar to show that the reset is being done. It will then go back to or machine error. Type stop/exit, 9, 9. This should take the machine out of maintenance mode and back to normal. If the error is still present the machine will require an engineer to resolve the issue.
